Strange Effects After Covid

Does anyone know if this is normal?

I've had a horrible taste in my mouth since getting Covid about 3 weeks ago. Also been kinda dizzy and tired.

Is there anything I could take to get better?

Is this long covid?

I'm not a doctor, but your symptoms - particularly taste - are not normal. I had COVID with zero after-effects. Are you able to exercise normally, without excessive fatigue? Do you have trouble concentrating?

See a doctor for more informed diagnosis and treatment.

Favipiravir ( anti-viral ) is the standard treatment for COVID here, that's what I got. I didn't really need paracetamol, which is for fever.

There is no evidence ivermectin is an effective prophylactic or therapy for COVID, apart from what can be found on social media. No reputable medical journal would publish any studies, AFAIK the studies that exist are not peer-reviewed.

It is a favorite pharmaceutical of Big Pharma conspiracy theorists, however.

I took invermectin on the advice of 2 Thai doctors and one in the UK.

Just Invermectin and paracetamol

Maybe the ivermectin?

I know a few people who got covid and they just told me it was like being sick for a few days, really nothing special, but they were also vaccinated. No symptoms or side effects after they got covid.

did you have the bad taste in your mouth when you got covid or did it come about later? probably should see a doctor if it was the latter, if it started happening when you got covid and didn't go away, might take time.

Those three doctors are guilty of malpractice, not that it is likely they will be brought to book.

Why didn't you ask Sheryl? I have found her to be very helpful via PM.

Thanks, I have a few of those symptoms -

Diarrhea

Brain Fog

Headache

I was just about to click a 'like' emoji then I realized you might not appreciate that. ????

I think there are many people on this planet suffering from 'long Covid' and a lot of them are not even aware of it. Some may not even realize that they had Covid in the first place. My bout was so mild it could have been brushed off as a cold.

I don't think that there is a lot that doctors can offer in this situation, but there's an interesting article here about long Covid clinics in Thailand that you may find useful.

Take care.

All is new with covid, also the vaccines. They dont know how or what happens with humans.

And even medicines longer in market , they dont know.

Got headache, every day, so got to doctor. He said migraine. Dmn, i thought.

However i realized some time after that, he gave me medicines, high blood and cholesterol.

Was taking it for already a half year. What if, i thought? And yes my headache was due to statines (high cholesterol), try and error find out.

So back to doc and told him. Maybe he was right about migraine, but he didnt connect my headache to my medicines.

Send me to specialist, got other medicine (still statines) and every time headache.

The last one was so bad, i wanted to die. So i  told specialist, fy with statines.

Also red in the meantime a lot negative about statines. Breaking down Q10 enzym, muscle, people couldnt walk anymore and so on. So thats a "medicine" for many years they use !! It breaks you down, but ok it helps for high cholesterol. Make your pick.

I red about curcuma for lowering cholesterol and took that. Told specialist, who said "doesnt work"

I said blood showed lower cholesterol. I kept taking (to test placebo effect) it and next time blood showed again lower cholesterol. Sadly my headache (slightly) after a year got back, so stopped curcuma and also this one caused it after a year! That was every day taking 2 teaspoons curcuma for a year.

Diseases when do they stop? Medicines, what are the effects on the rest of your body?

Be aware with both of them.

I caught covid in Thailand end of February first week in March. I'm old... 74...

it caused multiple problems for me long after the actual infection. In fact I'm still dealing with the afters ... tired all the time, falling asleep, high glucose readings and the GP had to increase my diabetes meds Breathing problems persisted and I was given an inhaler. The cough took  6 weeks to go , the doctor told me not to take cough medicine ... he was right ... it went away when I stopped the cough mixture ! Blood Pressure problems and extra meds for that....
Now the latest blood test is showing low sodium levels ...my arms were tingling and numb... thought it was my heart !

that's my story .

I got covid in March 2020 and ended up with double pneumonia. My symptoms included;

1. Certain foods tasting vile e.g. coffee from my coffee machine. I still can't drink coffee from my delonge coffee machine even now. Certain foods tasted aweful as well, certain types of milk and tomatoes were other weird changes.

2. Smell - instead of losing my sense of smell I got suddenly smelt strange scents in products which I had always used. For example my deodorant suddenly had a smell like the smell from the old fashioned pencil sharpeners and i could smell many phantom odors.

3. Rash over certain parts of my body and the hair fell out wherever I had the rash

4. Ongoing weakness in my legs and arms like gravity has suddenly been increased. This is still ongoing. I haven't worked since 2020 and I get getting cyclic bouts of intense muscular fatigue if I over exert myself. It is like a fatigue meets paralysis type thing.

5. Agonising inflamed knee and elbow joints with intermittent swelling and fluid build up. This was worst last year, to the point i could barely climb stairs and I thought it had disappeared or resolved itself but the symptoms came back this week after I got covid again 3 weeks ago. Pre 2020 covid I was running about 16 to 20 km a day while working full time as well. Now I feel an achievement if I make 10 000 steps for the day.

I'm just hoping things will settle this year and improve because I never had any of these symptoms before I got the covid.

I got (or believe that I got - my Dr. feels that it was in hindsight as well) Covid in the early winter of 2019 (before it was reported around).   One strange side effect that lasted for months was that many smells reminded me of the strong pungent odor of lidocaine (when it happened, I would also taste lidocaine).  It does really weird things with taste and smell.

If you are having these types of symptoms please see a doctor for a diagnosis.
I know you are just looking for help.  But the only way to get a definitive answer is to get a medical exam.
I know I’m not answering your question.  I’m just giving my opinion for the best resolution to your issue.

he did, see above - he's now taking the next obvious step, asking here :wai:

Sorry to hear that. I'm 78, got COVID last November, probably the delta variant. 3 days of runny nose and sore throat, finish. I put my good luck down to my New Year's resolution of 2021 to become more fit.

I don't think there's much doubt people with pre-existing conditions are more vulnerable to COVID, all I can suggest is plenty of rest interspersed with working on your fitness level. A bit contradictory, I know.

My Thai GF now has COVID for the second time, I am negative despite being with her while she is infectious. It's a lottery
