My Wife Was Right

Featured Replies

My barber always cleans my ears after he cuts my hair. My wife was nagging me that getting my ears cleaned by the barber was dangerous and that I would have a problem. I have never had an ear infection in my entire life until now. The infection is a dandy. Very painful and the ear canal is swollen almost shut. It hurts to even touch my ear. It hurts to eat because it is also into my jaw. I went to a doctor two days ago, She cleaned my ear and gave me three different kinds of pills and some ear drops. Yesterday I was ready to go to the hospital because it was much worse the day after the doctor treated me. I decided to wait one more day. Today it is still pretty bad but it is not as painful as it has been. My wife can touch my ear without me going into orbit. I think maybe I'm finally over the hump.

NO more ear cleanings for me.

Ears are too important to mess around with. If it doesn't get better I'd go to an ENT doctor in one of the hospitals. They don't usually charge too much if it's just a one off examination and treatment.

My ENT doctor told me not to worry too much, about cleaning my ears and certainly not every day. A superficial wipe is normally sufficient. As for barbers, I just get them to trim the hairs, and that's all.

Hope you get better soon

very dangerous, i got my ears cleaned by my girlfriends mom in nan as she cuts hair routinely, after she washed my hair she started cleaning my ears and then pushed soap and water into my ears and gave me a drowning effect and actually tickled and hurt my ears, never again .

Never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear. A good maxim to live by. Qbuds etc are as dangerous as the earcleaning tools that barbers use. The thought of something that has been in someone elses passage entering mine nauseates me. :o:D

Actually we are lucky that Loei has a ENT specialist and that's who I went to. The examination, treatment and meds cost me a total of 280 baht. She (the doctor) also said that I didn't have a cold like I thought, but rather allergies that were causing me problems. If they keep bothering me I should go to another specialist to be treated.

Gary A....Make sure you keep water out of that ear until it clears up. Very important.
