Daily News Thai Caption: Flash flood!

The driver of a Suzuki car had a brush with death in the Khao Banthat Wildlife Sanctuary in Phatthalung, southern Thailand yesterday evening.

Surachet Khongdam thought he could make it across a flooded creek but a flash flood came and swept his car away.

He said he was lucky that it got stuck on some power poles that had been laid down as a makeshift bridge for pedestrians and motorcycles over the flooded creek, reported Daily News

Local electrical worker Chaiyot Suwan heard the car rev and then went with colleagues to help the driver out of his stricken vehicle.

A crane was used later in the evening to fish the car out of the creek.
