Authorities in Udon Thani went to investigate yesterday after a post online suggested that all the kids at a kindergarten got for lunch was a measly khai palo egg and a bit of rice.

The post further claimed this was all P3 kids got too.

Jessada Panatheuk from the watchdog Damrongtham head a delegation that met the deputy school director Suchart Khemthong, Nongyao Singhathongkoon in charge of the kitchens and all the teachers at Udon Thani Kindergarten, reported Sanook.

There were ten dinner ladies in their hats doling out yesterday's lunch - fried rice with pork accompanied by some cucumber and a couple of ngoh, rambutans.

Jessada declared that it was delicious, truly restaurant quality.

The children are fed in classrooms  on steel plates with sections. The school has no canteen so teachers serve the food themselves.

It appeared that the parent who posted had either been economical with the truth or had misunderstood things.

The week's menu looked great.

Suchart said they never even served khai palo and he had no idea where the parent got that idea and that picture.

Parents were welcome to send in their own lunch but what they provided was a good lunch and the children could always ask for more.

I'm guessing notification of the visit was pre-arranged?

Looking at the photo, the kids don't seem to know what to do with it. Perhaps they've never had that amount of food on their school dinner plates before.
