Naew Na Thai Cap:Battered and bruised - 76 year old attacked by hornets

Naew Na reported on the case of a farmer in the north east in Nakhon Phanom who was attacked by swarms of Tiger Head hornets.

Srimuang Trayakhan, 76, explained how he went out to pluck some vegetables for lunch.

But he was suddenly attacked all over his body by the hornets that had come from five nests the family maintains.

He was stung all over his body including around 30 on his head. He was not wearing a shirt which made matters worse.

He was left screaming in agony and crawling begging for help of neighbors or his wife.

They managed to get him to hospital and after several injections and three hours observation in ICU he was allowed to go home.

His wife Janphen said she thought he was going to die. She said that the hornets had first attacked the five cows the family keeps penned nearby then turned on her husband.

She supported him as he gingerly showed his wounds in Tha Khor sub-district Muang district yesterday.

Must be a candidate for a Darwin award. They maintain 5 hornet's nests yet didn't think it wise to protect his body when going anywhere near them

what idiots .....     what do they think will eventually happen ?

go buy 2 gallons of diesel and burn the f....__  nests.    Then no more hornets to sting you ... Duh  !!

Why would anyone 'maintain' 5 hornets nests on their property? Am I missing something - are these creatures somehow useful to farmers?

The neighbours have the nests, not him.

Might want to reconsider that approach.
