Hi, I want to live in Thailand but don't qualify for retirement or marriage visa.

I only have a 30 day tourism visa as an Australian.

I have been to Thailand on these 30 day visa's for about 9 times

Would love to study Buddhism, but not take anyone else's job, so no work intended or accepted.

I have sufficient funds to live and pay medical insurance so I am not a burden on the country. But not much more.

So, where do I go to study Buddhism, and how do I get permission to do so.

Also, how do I get a visa to only pursue my studies of Buddhism?

And who should I approach?

And, sorry for so many questions, but what is the most appropriate visa run from Thailand?

You can get a non-r visa and the extension of stay to study Buddhism.

You would have to find a temple or monastery to support your application.

This from the immigration order for extensions of stay.

You can simply get a Thai education visa for the first years, then you can learn a bit of the language and culture already.

 

If you figure out in that time to become a monk, you have the next plan ready too.

Wow, thanks so much for your answer. I would like to study at Karon. However location is not important. Where do you suggest I approach a temple or monastery?

I should also indicate I would like to assist autistic children with my time for any help I could give.
