Well, I think we both want the same thing as far as relelevance goes. I am trying to help you understand that being a critic of Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak or Boris Johnson doesn't make one a socialist. You see a socialist is a person who subscribes to this doctrine:

"a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole"

So, introducing that term into this discussion, or calling someone politically red or green for that matter is utterly irrelevant and a diversion. And as hopeless as the task may seem of inculcating in you this information, I am resolved to continue. I will never give up on you. Never!

Getting back to Truss, we now learn she has bright ideas to cut funding to the already floundering NHS and reduce the salaries of already hard to recruit Doctors.

 

That might go down well

What a shame that all successive Tory PM's, perhaps with the exception of John Major has succeeded in almost destroying MacMillan's philosophy and now the UK can look forward to years of deprivation for the millions of less well off and pensioners, the butt of international jokes and an utterly, utterly divided nation. What ever happened to the Tories and their probable selection of the countries next "couldn't care less" PM, Liz Truss ?  

The purge of 'one nation' Tories from the Conservative parliamentary party was completed before the 2019 election.

 

As a consequence, this leadership contest is basically a Hobson's choice for Tory members. The only discernable difference being that Sunak - until recently - has been slightly more realistic with his promises in the very short term.

An easy solution, if dishonest, would be to call this inflation the "Putin price hike" and adamantly refuse to accept a shred of responsibility. Then if inflation stalls month on month or even possibly slows down call it the Truss Discount.

Up to them, there are other high rankers that go with Truss on the finance thing, but a leader deals with dozens of other things, where discussions are held with the minister in charge of those issues, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

The “finance thing” is the centrepiece of her election campaign…it’s the crucial aspect of life affecting the country, so it matters a lot.
 

The economists have made clear that truss’ tax cut blah blah blah won’t work.

Well she has worked for one proper company in her life, unlike most politicians. Truss had a brief stint at Shell so she will understand that the world needs more than theoretical renewables for future electricity generation. I'm hoping she is more realistic than Sunak who did that ridiculous virtue signal when he introduced a windfall tax on North Sea energy producers, folly like that can lead to dramatic price spikes in the future than would make this years rises look irrelevant. Super bad move Rishi.

None of that changes the reality that truss’ plans according to economists and members of her own party will not work.
 

But please tory base, vote her in, there is a good chance that under her leadership the tories are likely to lose power.
