Of course it was... while people are sleeping on the streets and still suffering after Covid... Sick. 1
Sydebolle Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 ".. the committee has approved the procurement .... 45 to 22 votes." I therefore assume that the committee is overloaded with absolute air force, aviation and aircraft specialists. "..... could only proceed ... )if there is a) of the budget from 738 million baht to 369 million baht." Well, some of the committee and some at the air force will be having thinner xmas boni envelopes then. What a farçe; with two airplanes you'll win the war between PRC and ROC, the Ukrainian mess, the nasty Myanmar conflict and possibly even clean up North Korea. Keep up the good work then 8-)

F-35 are an offensive weapon and not ideal for Air Defense. But TIT. Even though the per unit cost is now under $100 Million it’s operating costs are still staggering: Latest estimate is over $30,000 per hour to operate the F-35. It would be ironic if you are from the USA!
steven100 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Excellent news ! now get that purchase order into Lockheed asap . When not in combat they can be used for border security and crowd control. If Singapore can have a few new toys then Thailand wants some also ....

I am an American and even I know the F-35 is not well suited for Thailand or any other less developed nation. It is simply too expensive to operate. It’s like a middle income guy buying a Ferrari. Would it be ironic if you were not American?

Kinnock Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 If they are serious about buying US high tech weapons, then this would need a major shift in political strategy away from China ..... unlikely. But if strategic thinking was being employed, they'd be buying hundreds of shoulder launched weapons rather than one F35.
Ty Hareways Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Much much more involved than just purchasing an F35, these clowns will just be laughed at by the US.
