The owner of the “Mountain B” pub in Chon Buri, which caught fire on Friday night with the loss of 15 lives, has allegedly admitted to the charges filed by police and will not attempt to flee, according to his lawyer Anucha Wongsrirat on Saturday.

He also said that the owner had agreed to pay 50,000 baht in compensation to each of the families of the 15 who died and 10,000 to every person injured, adding that the injured can make contact via the pub’s website to claim the compensation.

The Pattaya court yesterday issued a warrant for his arrest, at the request of Phlu Ta Luang police, who have charged the owner with negligence causing the death of the other people and operating a pub without a licence.

How awfully magnanimous of him to offer to not flee. Presumably he expects some kind of bravery award for such a courageous gesture.

Note that his name is deliberately omitted from the article.

BP too weak to name the owner...as usual! Can only mean the owner is well known!

this 27 year old kid is not an owner of this establishment which was originally opened in 2018.

He is just a menager there. Owners were mentioned in an article in bangkok post - local mafia figures, one of them was at this pub at the time of fire and run.

Some 20 victims are still in ICU on ventilators, some in coma, so many more of them likely to die within the next few days.

Five cops from the local police station were moved.

All of them, from the true owners to corrupted cops should be charged

Yes and the fact the five local cops were moved before any kind of investigation had taken place makes it look like some kind of cover up.

50,000 baht compensation for death?

What a joke.

As is 10,000 baht for those injured... doubt if that even covers the first treatment in hospital. He should cover all treatments for ever, how ever long for all those affected.

And the owner is.......? Answers -on a postcard please - to Director of Public Prosecutions.

From today's Cambodian news media (8 August 2022):-

"A senior police officer in Chonburi province confirmed Sunday that club owner Pongsiri Panprasng had turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued..................The 27-year-old will face several charges, the police officer said, including causing death through recklessness and operating a pub without a licence.

Definitely. Keeping those natural instincts at bay is difficult especially when under such pressure.
