Trump Organization's former Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg at the court

Trump Organization's former Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg leaves Manhattan Criminal Court in New York, on Aug. 12, 2022.

Former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg is expected to plead guilty to criminal charges tied to his indictment by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in an investigation of former president Donald Trump's businesses, according to two people familiar with the matter and a public court filing.

Weisselberg's plea could come as soon as Thursday at 9 a.m. Terms of the expected deal were not immediately disclosed.

Weisselberg and the Trump Organization were charged as part of what prosecutors described as an “off the books” scheme over the course of 15 years to help top officials in the Trump Organization avoid paying taxes.

‘I’ve got the best people, the very best people’.

Always the best people.

2022 is turning into a refreshing torrent of Justice.

I unabashedly claim credit for my early calling 2022 a year of Justice.

I’m almost blissed out.

Weisselberg pleading guilty to tax fraud, earlier escaped federal prosecution for the Stormy Daniels payments in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with candidate Trump (which Trump has denied) is also a key witness in the Trump Foundation scam & Trump University scam.

The Trump foundation's treasurer, explained in the interview.

"The Trump Foundation misused funds for President Donald Trump's personal use and to advance his political career. The foundation hadn't held a board meeting in 19 years. They was no policy."

Trump and his children ultimately admitted to wrongdoing following the AG's investigation in 2019. He was forced to dissolve the foundation and ordered to pay $millions in fines and they all had to agree not to involve themselves with a management of a charitable organization in the future.

Many unanswered questions still about his son that manages the ice skating ring in NY that operates mostly on cash basis. Truckloads of cash.

What does this mean for D Trump ?

Acording to the article, nothing.

Although I think The Trump Organization may be under investigation for wider tax fraud. I think Eric runs the Trump Org.?

I guess it may mean that Donald Trump doesn't "hire the best people"? Which hardly comes a surprise.

If you mean that the article didn't touch on the implications, you're correct. Otherwise not. It really depends on the terms of the plea. Maybe Weisselberg is just pleading guilty without trading his plea in exchange for a reduction or mitigation of sentence. Or maybe he's agreed to plead guilty  in exchange for incriminating information against Trump and/or other parties. And in return he will benefit. Who knows?

I didn't know this, though I did hear DT renovated the place.  Been a long time since I lived there.  When I was a teenager they would cover it up in the summers and turn it into an amphitheater and have concerts; saw a lot of great bands there (for their time) for 1 or 2 bucks, from Ray Charles to The Grateful Dead.  But it is on city property, inside Central Park, so the arrangement itself probably has some dodgy origins/oranges.

Man, a family of grifters, surrounded by even more grifters, corrupting all they come in contact with..

Well, as it seems he agreed to play the role of a "fuse", he is part of the best people from Trump's perspective.

I take you mean that in a bad way. Kinda like when Hitler was on the cover of Time mag as man of the year for all the wrong reasons.

Influential? So he supported all the major funding bills that Congress has enacted? That's news to me.

I might have this wrong but as I understand it, a guilty plea here coming after Trump's 440 5th amendment marathon might prompt James to move to close down Trump Org.

I've never seen any article anywere to suggest that. Is there something you can link to or is this just a thought of yours?

Instead, James may try to use her powers under state executive law to torch Trump's business empire entirely, something she has also sought successfully with the Trump Foundation and so-far unsuccessfully with the NRA.

She would do so through a massive lawsuit seeking New York's so-called corporate death penalty, as she has signaled over the past five months in legal filings alleging repeated and persistent fraud at Trump's business.

From what is published I get the impression Eric is the only one in the cabal that actually does "work," the rest just scrounge around looking for the next grift like squirrels seeking acorns.  Or characters in The Sopranos.

This Weisselberg business is right out of The Untouchables: they can't get the thugs but they get the accountant.

As ridiculous as it may sound, the most politically savvy person in the cabal is Guilfoyle!  Check her wiki bio.  One of her former husbands may be running for president soon.  If her libido lives up to the rumors (e.g. the women at Fox used to complain that she would show them dick pics of her conquests) I suspect she keeps Don Jr on a diet of cocaine and Cialis.  As for liability, well, they are not married so there is no spousal protection for Jr.

Interesting. Several years ago there was an article in the New Yorker about Trump's "business empire" if you want to dignify what looked more like a conglomeration of grifts than an actual business. I'll see if I can track it down.
