On the Thai Tourist Visa application form (Vietnam version):

what’s a good thing to write for “local guarantor”? (I don’t know anyone in Vietnam)

What about “guarantor in Thailand” if I don’t have anyone who wants to be involved?

For “Occupation (include position and name of employer)” would visa be more likely to be denied if put “unemployed”? what might an acceptable answer be in such a situation?

“Proof of accommodation to stay covering at least half of the trip with complete information.”

Really we are expected to pay for a month of hotel before even knowing if we’ll be granted a visa?

If you are coming after October 1st (and b4 March 31st) you can get a 45 day Visa Exemption,  expendable for 30 days.  This might fit your needs with less stress

Last time I applied for a Schengen visa (in July 22) I had to show a ticket and hotel reservation for the complete period. When I told them I will be traveling around and select hotels as I go they said not possible. Must show confirmed booking. I booked a 1 (one) star hotel for about 2600 Euro just to apply for the visa. Thankfully there was an option of "pay on arrival" and free cancelation until 2 days before check in, so I canceled the booking as soon as I got the visa ????

Oh, and I also had to purchase insurance of their liking - they have a list of insurance companies they accept ???? and insurance can't be canceled if you don't fly, there are some limits to changing the dates of the insurance and the only way to cancel and get a refund for the insurance is if your visa was denied and you must provide a letter from the embassy to prove it.

And some people here claim Thailand is playing hard to get....

Already came visa exempt 3 times this year. IO at DM airport doesn’t want me to do it again.

Is there any airport that has “mai ben rai” immigration likely to allow a 4th visa exempt entry?

 Please advise

Is this for Thailand? As I am having more trouble filling out the online single entry tourist visa now than I did entering in covid times. The last part is over 14 different documents , I have done nearly everything , bank statements etc . Now it’s ‘A confirmation letter from employer, School, Self-assessment, Pension statement ’ . I’m coming on a tourist visa fcs .

Yes it's for Thailand.  Been reported as approved on here and in the Thai press.  Not till Oct 1st tho,  that is after midnight Sept 30th.

Cheers mate, landing October the 9th and only staying 43 days so no need to apply for that ridiculous  hoop jumping online tourist visa. You would of thought they would of made it easier by now , especially as they are gagging for more visitors .
