Thai tourism continues to recover with 4 million arrivals already this year

The number of foreign tourists entering Thailand so far this year has now exceeded 4 million in a positive sign, reflecting the continuing recovery of Thailand’s tourism sector. It is also a result of the relaxation of tourist entry procedures and proactive tourism promotion, according to Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri.

 

The end-of-year government target for the arrival of foreign tourists is 10 million, with just four months left. Pre-COVID, the numbers of tourists were on the rise each year, from 38.2 million in 2018 to almost 40 million in 2019.

 

Anucha said that, according to statistics from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the cumulative number of foreign tourists entering Thailand between January 1st andAugust 16th was 4,015,504, of which most were from Malaysia, India, the Lao PDR, Singapore and the United Kingdom, in descending order.

4 months to go and do they really expect 6 million more in that small period of time.  1.5 million a month, can it be done with the global economy and inflation occurring, I guess anything is possible.  If the economy could be ignited here without this governments interference to stuff there pockets full it might increase the countries popularity. Remove the excess import fees on items such as wine, allow the tourist areas to flourish by licensing more lower cost hotels/home stays which have been stifled.....so much more.

Seriously ? 6 months of it and still dribbling ? The promotion people need a new career. I remember prediction of 10 million up by these same clowns.

Arrivals are not always tourists... The difference  TAT can't make and understand. People went out on holiday but live in THailand are no tourists, but arrivals. same for business men and long stayers who fly in and out t stay for several months and go back to their homecountry and after a few months come back again.

From what I’ve just seen on the news in Oz they may have to have a rethink on these figures looks like the same BS is about to start again, they just don’t seem to be able to learn from their mistakes, sad. ☹️

I think half of Europe will travel to Thailand in the last 2 months, since either will have no gas to heat their homes, or can't afford it ????
