Immigration is NOT there to keep tourists happy.

They are there to keep out undesirables, like the sex pests.

what about all the Thai sex pests with their gigs and their mias noi? we're just following in their footsteps. farang see farang do ????

it's not a question of terminology, there are 3 distinct tourist visa classes at the base level:

Cheers, I do appreciate that. ????

I was pleased when I looked at the passport and only saw a little stamp.

When she asked about the thai wife she was implying you were coming over to bang and that's why you kept cumming over and over so often.

She's also very aware of Thai men and their 'straying tendencies', just a mad-on for males in general........

Never previously had any 'interaction' with immo save for the mechanics of being stamped in/out.

I'll add here that I'm familiar with the many gambits trotted out by immigration ????

So, which of the two, mechanics or gambits?

I don't see anything wrong with the IO behaviour. You had about 30 entries in 7-8 years, that IS a lot and she was right. Do get a visa, or be prepared for some obvious questions, including whether you have a relationship in Thailand.

I like these stories because it tells me I'm smart for not retiring in Thailand.   From the top down

, the falang is really someone who you can treat badly over and over and over and over.

To be fair, 'service to attract repeat business' is uncommon in Thailand. In the mindset of many Thais it seems normal to give a (you know) about customers and tourists, before and after they have 'paid'.

tourists just wanting to fly to Thailand  frequently by air visa exempt get knocked back by Royal Thai Immigration for "coming too many times".

Really?  How many times is that, then; what are your stats?

Last 8-10 years entering on TV's and exempts, two decades with mostly TV's and exempts, a couple Non O's, the 'wife' question may be stretching it a little, however very normal to ask about a 'visa' with all the past entries.........

C'est ca in a nutshell

And indeed due to the fast expiring passport, next trip I will be equipped with a pristine new unused one. (Yours truly will henceforth be avoiding any immigration queues leading to a stamp wielder devoid of  'Y' chromosome).

The IO will be looking at all your previous entries on her screen, new passport doesn't mean anything.

Does anyone know what happens if, for whatever reason, they decide to deny entry, for coming to Thailand too often; do you have to go back to the same country you just came from, or can you buy a ticket to say, Malaysia or Vietnam?

You are made to fly back to where you departed to fly to thailand.

I was denied entry about 4 years ago. All very polite, but firm. Wasn't even allowed to move my car from the car park or contact my long term gf to give her the keys. I flew in from a bordering country and was denied entry because of too many visa waivers. Was initially told I would be deported to Europe, even though I made it clear I had flown in from "next door".

I then bought a ticket back to where I'd come from and was escorted to the gate. Again, all very politely. I had the impression that I could have bought a ticket to anywhere as long as I was leaving the country.

Since then, visas all the way and no issues.

You had the wrong impression.

Not saying it never happens that you can arrange a flight the airline agrees to......the norm would be to fly to previous departure location and failing that flown to your passport country.

Thais cannot be denied entry to Thailand no matter how disreputable they are!
