Thai Rath reported on a horrific attack on Thursday when a woman's former husband arrived and covered a ten year old child in gasoline.

The mother managed to intervene but ended up being burned on her legs and arms.

The child ended up being relatively unhurt.

A 12 year old and a 10 year old child described how their father had arrived and without saying anything doused the younger child in gasoline.

But their mum managed to grab her but in the ensuing struggle she was the one who was burned when the father set light to the gasoline.

Weeranuch, 30, was taken to hospital and it was only yesterday after her burns flared up that she called the Bang Sao Thong police and rescue services.

She was taken to Bang Plee hospital after the incident that happened at a worker's camp in Soi Thai Prakan 3, off Thepparak Road, Samut Prakan.

She told Lumpini police that the man responsible was Banjong Muangkaew, 39, whom she had split up with two months ago.

He had a history of violence and making threats and had engaged in self-harming.

Pol Col Nirandorn Faksuban, Bang Sao Thong police chief, said that they were in the process of gathering evidence for an arrest warrant.

What an odious Thai man. Hope he will be given the justice he really deserves once he gets put in prison, assuming of course the RTP bother to catch him and he is duly sentenced

Meanwhile he is out and about and there is a possibility he could return.

K. Faksuban, can't your gun just completely accidentally empty itself into Banjong's head?

“and without saying anything”.

Shouldn't the hospital have alerted the police when someone arrived there for burns treatment?

"He had a history of violence and making threats and had engaged in self-harming."

As a previous poster mentioned, this needs to be taken further.... I'm sure the locals or mother's family would be happy to arrange a lynch mob, some gasoline (maybe a car tyre around his waist) and some form of flame.

This monster needs removing from society.

This guy probably has a history of violent acts including threats and violence against his wife. I doubt he suddenly decided to attempt to kill his daughter. Better support for women under threat from Police is a must. There seems to be an increase in violent crimes by people with mental health issues and addictions issues. This guy will face justice but his family is suffering.
