Visa for child under 15 years.

Featured Replies

After spending several months in Thailand, I need to leave. My child (11 years) was previously on an NON-ED Visa. After some difficulties with the school, we pulled her out. We went to immigration and they told us that she couldn't get kind of tourist visa or Covid extension because she didn't enter the country on a 60 day tourist.  Apparantly, no tourist visa is allowed for people on Non-ED visas. The lady at immigration advised that because she is under 15, she would not get charged for overstay, so it's all fine and dandy, until we decide to get her a visa, or leave the country. I have been homeschooling her since May when her visa expired, but now I am terrified we won't be able to leave the country.

Does anyone have any experience of this? I really need to leave for personal reasons and don't want any trouble at immigration.

Immigration was correct.

It will not be a problem to leave the country. Immigration will do a stamp stating your child is exempt from paying a overstay fine due to being under the age of 15.

I can confirm; my ex's son had over four years overstay when I helped him check in for a flight to Australia a few years ago - there were no problems at all.
