The form I provided is for a life insurance policy that I took out a few months before applying to WrLife. It was to show the extensive medical questionnaire I had already undertaken which made it easy to answer the WrLife questions.

 

And my conversation with AIS consisted of: When are you folks going to provide the Guarantee of Payment. I am in the hospital awaiting surgery. (It showed up a few hours later).

Worth you checking insurance licence 51230, i did a google search but came up with nothing useful. Licence with who? where? name?

 

The 6 month waiting period is a strange thing, easy to game the system, say you don't have diabetes, 6 months later have it, etc etc. All this comes back to how much money they have to pay claims hence the question about underwriter i.e. who will be funding it, the issue is if too many claims at once they can't pay claims

I have just emailed Patrick asking how would I know whether or not a claim would be approved in the event of me lying in hospital after having a stroke, heart attack or accident.

I want to be assured that I am covered for all eventualities.

On the Summary of Cover for Serenity policy, it still says that preexisting conditions 'To be Considered. A bit worrying.

Anyone buying the insurance can pretend they have no pre-existing conditions, wait 6 months then claim, so i expect they have ways to filter those out

Only by going to ALL hospitals/doctors/clinics you may have visited and ask for past records.

Not necessarily, I can't recall the exact wording but they can call something preexisting even if you didn't know about it, don't forget insurers have some kind of linkup with hospitals, they probably provide name, passport number and hospitals check their database, there might even be a central database

If any insurer has reason to suspect there was false data supplied on the application form regarding pre-existing conditions, you might have to prove there were not rather than the insurer having to prove that there were.

 

And a specialist doctor can generally tell the time sequence on an occurrence as to when symptoms became evident, or should have been evident to a "prudent" person, without a search of hospital records.

Scroll down the regulator's website to the section "Licensed International Insurance Entities" and select "General Insurance Companies". There is mention of Lorentz Capital Ltd. and also Norfolk Insurance Co.

 

I think that the designation "Licensed International Insurance Entities" may designate insurance companies incorporated elsewhere but licensed by the regulator in Nevis to transact insurance business. Not sure about this, however.

 

There is a Lorentz Capital UK Limited, but I don't know if it is the same entity as that shown on the Nevis regulator's website:

Seems there's more people on facebook with wrlife, post in Pattaya oracle or pattaya expats and you'll get more info

What are you looking for? If you're thinking of using them for your health insurance why not contact them and ask your questions?

I was looking for customers of WRLife who have made claims, successfully or not. 

You have obviously not read my previous posts, or you would know that I am already a customer of WRLife.

Ah.  The broker I use has had some, but I don't have the details.  I guess as a relatively new insurer in Thailand, there won't be hundreds of claims.

Not quite, it's good and bad experiences. No point having insurance if when it matters and you make a large claim it gets denied. This applies to all insurance companies. Most feedback you will receive will be good but based on the premium paid and cover offered

The main reason that I signed with WrLife before my claim was that I could apply with them listing no pre-existing conditions as I had a 15 year no claims record with CIGNAGlobal and BUPApre-Aetna.

 

And most claims denial problems -- other than the purely administrative --  as discussed on here seem to be with judgmental decisions related to pre-existing conditions.

Discouraged from what? Buying a policy with a company you do not know will pay out your claim or not.

Discouraged that there isn't as yet a big fiasco at WrLife for some to write about. And why do you think they would not payout your claim? Because they deny your claim on medical reasons or they just go financially bust?

This thread is certainly helping.  What worried me most was @Sheryl's doubts, as she is undoubtedly the board expert on healthcare matters and her reservation was about the company's long-term financial viability.  In the end, I took my broker's advice and signed up, but there is certainly a risk in choosing a relatively new player in the market. Time will tell.
