herfiehandbag
I thought that the justification for an all appointed senate was to curb the practice of "political clans" appointing there junior members to posts on the senate staff?
bamnutsak
Each Senator gets five staff. These are obviously no-show jobs, unless the aging senator needs medical help, or needs to be woken up during debate. I'd be shocked if the total number of nepotites is 50, golly, it might even be MORE than 1,250.

This is a Thailand Forum and the particular topic is relating to the Thai senate.....I expect we see more of it here than many other countries....the topic is designed to comment on that, and the fact that taxpayers cover the cost. I hope they get value for money, but doubt it.

Historically, an overwhelming percentage of MPs of every colour are made up of present/former military and Ammat circles. This is the way it's always been......so any nepotistic club extensions should be expected.
