Flying the morning after visa expires?

Recommended Posts

My extension of stay expires on 21st Sept. I've found a flight from BKK to Korea leaving at 2.50am on the 22nd that would suit me quite well.

Am I right in thinking that I can "exit" thailand in the airport and stay until my flight the next day, without overstaying? is there an official time limit on this and is it airport specifc?

according to the rules, they go by the time of the flight so technically you would be on overstay.  However, if it's only 1 day it wont be an issue if flying out of BKK. Normally a 1 day overstay at BKK there is no fine. If they stamp your passport or not is up to the IO.  If I were you I would just be prepared to pay it (500thb), as it is possible the IO might try and collect the fee (unofficially).

Just a small stamp in your passport that will give you no problems.

I believe you, but what is this stamp?

Overstay 1 day doesnt give any problems whatsoever in the future?

I want to come back next as early as possible next year.

It is an overstay stamp.  It says how many days and how much you paid as a fine (if anything).  It will cause no problems whatsoever.  Here is the one in my passport, never been mentioned on entering;

I had a one day overstay with no problems on subsequent trips.

I don't remember if they stamped my passport.

The kiosk IO sent me to a manager, who asked me why I overstayed.

I told her I counted wrong, which is true, she just sent me on my way with no scolding or lecture.

The whole thing took one or two minutes.

The flight is 2.35am, so I'd be looking at checking in 3 hours+ before which would be on the 21st effectively.

Go through immigration before midnight then if you are worried.

I believe that any overstay of any duration would make you permanently ineligible to apply for an elite visa. Of course that would only qualify as a "consequence" if you were thinking seriously about it.

One day, doubt it....:coffee1:

True the PE (elite visa) are serious about overstays it's incorrect to state they have zero tolerance.

Especially short overstay.

In this case one day.
