Siam Rath reported that a husband and wife couple were gunned down as they drive a motorcycle along the Ban Sakhor Road in Yala, southern Thailand.

They were ambushed by probably at least two men who fired from an M-16 at least 4 or 5 times.

Abdul Loh, 64, and his wife Sareeda, 63, were riddled with bullets.

The motive for the attack is under investigation with police admitting that it could be a personal vendetta as much as southern terrorism.

Who says they're old? I'm 64 years young so less of the old! ????

Pinochet was old.

Maybe they were evil criminals? We don't know.

It's unlikely to be a sectarian killing as they're Muslim names, unless they were informers.

The weapons alleged to be used are interesting, usually Communist supply small arms where this sort of thing goes on worldwide.

Nasty, something far more involved than a domestic dispute? (an M-16 rifle):-

In the south the rebels either rob armouries or simply take down small ranger posts and take their weapons. The army brings plenty of firepower with them but they seem remiss when it comes to ensuring their enemy doesn't take them off them.

Where would someone get possession of a US Military M-16.  Unless it was something left from the Vietnam war and smuggled into Thailand  that particular rifle is not sold to the general public. Fully Automatic rifles require special licensing in the USA to get them.

M-16 guns 50,000 THB direct from police/soldiers

Police search for 3 rogue cops & soldier involved in illegal gun trade

Ah so the police purchase them because they legally can obtain them and then turn around and resell them.  Actually that is dirt cheap at 50,000 thb.

Real M16s cost $25,000 to $35,000. in USA.
Now that is not the price paid by law enforcement but rather the black market in the USA for an automatic M16

I feel saddened by this event. My heart cries with every drop of blood that is senselessly shed in this ongoing predicament.

May God work His ways to help guide the misguided people on either side into basking in eternal light and forgiveness.
