Health Ministry to Stop Reporting Daily COVID Cases on Oct 1

BANGKOK, (TNA) – The Public Health Ministry will stop its daily reports on new COVID-19 cases and fatalities related to the disease on Oct 1 when COVID-19 will be defined as a communicable disease under surveillance instead of a dangerous communicable. disease.

 

The ministry revealed its plan to end the daily COVID-19 figure reports as it announced measures to handle the disease after an end to the state of emergency imposed to cope with the pandemic and the dissolution of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration on Oct. 1.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul ordered provincial communicable committees to work out action plans to handle COVID-19 as a communicable disease under surveillance. He said that his ministry would relax disease control measures to facilitate tourism like other countries did.

This is a good move that many other nations have done.

 

It helps take the focus off Covid, including reducing media reporting, which helps society move on. 

 

It's also simply not worth the effort of daily reporting anymore. 

 

Good sign the pandemic is ending.

Why do so many people think that Covid is disappearing ? It is still rampant in may countries but authorities have just given up and many countries cant be bothered to announce numbers of infections. It seems that all they care about now is tourism. Here in Western Australia we went into a full lockdown when there were 2 cases reported at the beginning. Now there are still about 1000 per day and nobody cares.

What did I learn from COVID?

 

LOS helped tourists with the COVID visa, while other countries went crazy.

Americans didn't care, a million died, and still didn't care too much.  

Auzzies seemed to care too much.

UK seemed to care, then had some parties, not really sure.  Brits never can figure out the fact that Americans really don't pay must interest to news over there.

China remained silent, then cities of 10 million went into lockdown like crazy

Once you got the vax, no worries.

Many people got poor, nobody wants to talk about it.

Income inequality widens, this is the Game of Thrones.

They were never reporting the correct numbers anyway.

 

There's actually more 10,000 cases a day and many more deaths.  

 

Hopefully they'll still be some records of it to report to the World Health Organization.

 

Now that Anutin is running for PM only good news can be reported when it comes to Thailand's Health matters.

I don't think anyone is saying Covid19 is disappearing or has disappeared.  It's just another infectious disease to be aware of and will remain so forever.  The thread is about whether we need to have statistics announced every day, which fortunately the Thai government has finally decided we don't.

 

Now, maybe, kids can go to school without masks! I'm not holding my breath.

A bit harsh.  Nothing stopping them reporting numbers to WHO, but it's ridiculous to dramatically announce them to the country every day.  Time to move on.

Good time to stop reporting inaccurate numbers while the Health Minister begins his run for Prime Minister.

This needs to happen, I can't believe bangkok schools are still mandating this in the classroom - most allow playground activities demuzzled, unfortunately its not just POH and auntin singing masks for the good of the people, there was  even some teachers in another thread this week pushing their promask for eternity (or have they choosen their own date) agenda

the next step should be having the people on the news and talk shows stop wearing the masks. That would give the thai people social permission to stop wearing the masks.

Utterly untrue. Total panic mongering. The numbers are dropping in nearly every country in the world. The numbers here have dropped precipitously, and even in nations like Japan and South Korea, which saw huge spikes recently, the numbers have dropped dramatically. 776 total deaths worldwide yesterday, and only 300,000 new cases. It is barely a concern at this point. When will people just stop the panic, and show some willingness to move on?

Covid itself is not over, but it’s definitely over as life-threatening virus. 
 

i know Thailand won’t do it, but with some rational thinking I would like to hear a 100% clear statement that masks are NOT needed outdoors, that all those people on tv stop wearing masks and so on. 
 

everyone can decide it on their own, but we all know that most Thai people just wear it due to the social pressure no mask = bad person. 
 

would be especially an improvement for the kids, as there are still enough idiotic thai parents who let their kids play with a mask on the beach.

I'm up country and yesterday was the first day I went into Big C and saw people without masks. As soon as the gov dropped the mandate, I stopped. 

 

This new step is in the right direction.

I observe most people in Chiang Mai wearing masks  other than western tourists.

It's more than you think! Of course varying degrees of sickness.

I've got a friend had all the vacs etc been taken to hospital 4 times in the past month for treatment.

Exactly!  For healthy people who've been vaccinated, Covid is no longer a major threat, which, for all its faults, the UK has done correctly.

I went and got my 4th shot yesterday (Autumn booster) and it was being given alongside influenza shots. THAT shows that Covid, though a serious illness for some people, can and should be treated just like 'flu.

Yes, it's absolutely critical this occurs soon. All masking of children needs to end.

 

Also any ATK testing requirements in education need to end, as per October 1.

Spot on.

 

An affirmative statement that masks are no longer needed  in most settings needs to come from public health and government authority.

 

It looks as if this may happen at local government level e.g Bangkok first. 

 

As for anyone on TV still makd wearing, that's gone beyond a joke and really should end soon.
