The China-Thailand railway aims to energize the economic development in Thailand and promote the interconnection of the pan-Asian railway network. Serving as a bridge for closer people-to-people exchanges between Thailand and China, the railway will help boost tourism and regional connectivity.

BANGKOK, (Xinhua) -- Twenty-four-year-old Nantapong Nuchanet has been expecting to drive a train that runs fast and steady in his home country Thailand. As the construction of the China-Thailand railway continues apace, he feels getting closer to his dream job.

Nantapong now works as a translator at the first-phase project of the China-Thailand railway that is to link the Thai capital of Bangkok with Nakhon Ratchasima province in northeastern Thailand. "I've achieved a small goal by doing a job related to the high-speed railway," he said.

Nantapong considers himself a lucky man -- he learned the Chinese language because of his interest in Chinese culture and technology, which won him a chance to study in China.

Though the track goes both ways, it will mostly be a 1-way street bombing out sector after sector after Thai fruit and veg sellers last 1 year.

So funny seeing all the Chinese army medics rushing down to Vientiane in a trial 'emergency help' drill on the China-Lao line...

Yes, greater rail connectivity. Maybe not so much with internet with China where access is controlled (for the public good, of course).

I’ve been in China many times. Never had any problems with my internet.

If it’s a one way street, how do the trains return?

Which will also allow a lot of Thai produce to be easily and cheaply exported to China.

Marvelous news !

Hopefully, we can soon start working on reducing the the trade deficit with China, obviously we just needed a new train line to sort this problem out !

If China decides to allow it in.. they may do so but put tariffs on it to save domestic consumption.

Can’t come soon enough. Laotians are already reaping the benefits of the HSR from Vientiane to Boten.

When the whole project (Singapore to Kunming) is completed, SEA will boom.

Loations maybe reaping the benefits at the moment, but that comes at a heavy price later... when the Chinese operations move in and control everything and price Loations out of home and village.
