They are on the wrong side of history. And the timing could not be worse. At a time when they need to be seen as progressive, to counter the regressive and failed policies of the ruling party, they are doing the opposite. This is very dumb, reactionary, and knee jerk stupidity. 

 

They have virtually eliminated themselves from contention. So, who remains, as the anti dinosaur party?

Some folks like to take drugs ....  and some don't ....    ok ...  maybe not shoot them but at least incarcerate them.  enough on this drug topic.

What does incarceration result in? Do they rehabilitate them, work on solving their problems, prepare them for a fruitful return to society? 
 No they sit in overcrowded prisons with nothing to occupy their time except- get this- doing more yaba. Theres more yaba in the prisons than on the street. 

Thanks, Steven for not killing them.  Should we start killing alcoholics, and the manufacturers, dealers. Alcohol remains the most dangerous drug.  "But society accepts it" just like it accepts corruption, guns, prostitution. But lets kill druggies, uhh, because I don't do drugs.

@MrFill makes a valid point; the world has a grossly overmedicated population. Indeed, prescription drugs are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer in the US and Europe. Thaksin's War On Drugs was very popular in 2003 as many people were being Killed, Mugged and by drug dealers and drug addicts and drugs. But seriously don't think it's going to the right policy now even in Isarn Pheu Thai's home turf people are Ganga crazy. Funny why so many foreigners here defend drug abuse.

Absolute nonsense that has been proven time and time again to be the wrong way to handle drug abuse and those that have become addicted.
The best example is Portugal who decriminalized the public and private use, acquisition, and possession of all drugs in 2000. They basically moved it from a criminal activity to a health issue and the drug-induced death rate has plummeted to five times lower than the E.U. average and stands at one-fiftieth of the United States’. Its rate of HIV infection has dropped from 104.2 new cases per million in 2000 to 4.2 cases per million in 2015. The war on drugs was lost a LONG time ago and new ideas are desperately needed but brave moves such as Portugal have made are often halted by (mostly right-wing) politicians who go over the same old tired solutions of 'string 'em up!" and 'zero-tolerance' knowing they absolutely don't work but appeal to people such as yourself who have little understanding of the problem but equally refuse to educate themselves and consider alternatives that have been proven to be much, much better.  

Filling prisons with people who would benefit more from help rather than punishment just doesn't work (and hasn't worked for decades) so unless you can start becoming part of the solutions, you should at least stop being part of the problem.

Of course, if some guy is s**t-faced drunk as goes on a murder spree, well, everything is just hunky-dory.  No call to outlaw Thai whiskey and alcohol as the 'connected' booze monopoly is simply too powerful.  But blame a mass-murder's killing spree on cannabis.  Ridiculous.  The Thaksin led ‘Pheu Thai’ was all onboard for extra-judicial executions of anyone accused of dealing drugs back in Thakin's regime.  That should tell you everything you need to know.

Not accurate. Government employees (including police officers) can buy firearms without tax (which is a big part of the weapon price). They can sell it in the free market (after both parties get the proper documents) after 5 years.
