The USA has more people imprisoned than any other nation on earth. Freeing those whose crime is sleeping a lot and munching more than others, will free up some bunks for heroin dealers and murderers. Seems perfectly practical.

Don't forget all the Trumpers headed for the Big House.

Human relations training??  That's a joke, isn't it?  The sort of HR "training" thrust upon employees these days (if you work for a woke company) involves admitting that because you are white you are by definition racist.

That's just not true.  There is no such training....anywhere.

Hold your outrage.

If you don’t want to work for a company that demands you respect their other employees and customers while at work and collecting a paycheck from them, go work somewhere else.

Er, Chomper, my good man,  who exactly are these other "employees and customers" you are introducing to this topic?

Erm…...

Has some hacked your account, or did you forget posting this?

And in the meantime, here are you (surely not an authoritarian?) telling us that the presumably wholesome HR training you mention is indeed the "correct" way to behave!!!

Inhuman relations more like....

Good for a few extra votes in the hippie demographic....(although they might not notice the generous act through the fumes).

So if it's good for a few extra votes in the "hippie" (are you serious?????????) demographic.

America doesn't have a drug problem then. Just a few old Ben & Jerry VW Kombi dwellers who don't know what day, month, year, century it is?

You can't have it both ways, "bud".

Also, you've missed a lot of the deeper, richer, more sublime human experience, if all you've ever done is get drunk, or get laid.

The number of people affected by Biden's pardon from federal prison for possession of marijuana may provide only limited advantage. Remember the pardon doesn't apply to state convictions.

The US Sentencing Commission shows that in 2017 only 92 people were sentenced for marijuana possession out of a total of nearly 20,000 convictions!

At the federal level 81,900 prisoners in September 2016 were convicted of drug offenses, but more than 99% were sentenced for trafficking (my note - "simple possession implies "personal use").

June 2019

https://washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/

So for a person convicted of possession of marijuana in federal court along with other serious drug offenses, there might only be a nominal reduction in their sentence. They should remain in jail.

But Biden does set an example and that may motivate state citizens to push for similar drug policies.

Agree about that, but at least Biden has finally done something I can commend him for.

Criminalising m j use has to be  a crime against reason IMO.

All that time and money wasted to harass people using a drug that is waaaaay less harmful than alcohol.

Well Mar A Lago is a big house and the big cheese will likely be incarcerated there but I don't forsee any chain gangs in his future.
