Does anyone have experience of how PEA or MEA handle meters that are not accessible due to flooding?

 

Our meter man is due over the next couple of days, if he has his wellies and comes at his regular time (which just happens to coincide with low tide) all will be good.

 

But what happens if he can't get to the meter?

 

Do they just wait until next month or something else?

Fair call my Mrs always pays PEA by phone via her bank app.

 

So if there's a problem she will ring PEA office.

 

Around our way now they have tightened up if you miss date to pay bill by,  they give 7 days only and they are around to take the meter.

I just realised we haven't had a water bill this month, but since the meter is actually under water ...

What if you use say 10 units per day = 300 per month and the meter reader comes 2 days late so usage is 320.

You will not get the current full discount

Yeah, we've actually just crept over the 300 unit mark this month due to some poor sunshine days ???? 

 

I don't think we'll starve because of it unlike some in the UK ????

In 2011 we had no meter reading for almost 3 months. No problem, they never cut the power off. The first bill after the floods we had to pay at the PEA office in person (they were quiet busy..).

Try and tell that to PEA.  Unfortunately they'll just look at you with eye's wide open while you explain that. Worth a try though with a fluent Thai Madam.

If you haven't got a bill you can't pay..

just wait for the meter to be read then pay immediately.

You can't pay in 7-11 the day you receive the bill or after due pay date.

My Mrs pays by phone sometime before due paid date sometimes after. 

Rarely pay my farmhouse 5/15 supply because most months it's my favorite bill due:- 0.00 baht.

Looks like the meter reader had his wellies (although he did manage to come at low tide) ???? 

 

Unfortunately, we used 303kWh so a reduced discount of 156.06 Baht ????

You can simply call PEA, give them your account info, and simply pay with a bank transfer after informed of the new bill.  Simply too easy.

 

If wanting, can set up account to auto pay PEA monthly, even easier if wanting.  Did that when living in Udon Thani, as O&A, longer distances from house.  Now trips aren't as long or as far, though if away, simply call, get info, transfer payment.

Yes, it's 5/15 and have small fridge and a night light 24/7 but usage per month is very little.

Only pay when i stick the air-con on for a certain amount of days.

Exactly and those 0 THB bills only work for 5/15A meter's not for the regular 15/45A or higher. We also get those for our property next doors, only have a small 5 W light on in the house so that meter spins a bit (only 3-4 units used every month)

Fixed charge for a 5/15A is 8.19 THB but it's indeed waived if you stay below 50 Units for 3 months onwards and after that you get 0 THB bills

Our house is 15/45 and as most know there's a standing charge.

 

The family has been here for 16 days so with 5 of us in the house 4 air-cons blasting away 3 of them on mostly our bill came a couple of days after they left. 

I was expecting 4000 or so but it was 2,700 so that was a result. 

 

The Thai family next door are 5/15 and 1 out of 3 only pay zero.

2 of them don't have air-cons so i do not really know or have any idea how they use so much.

There is a discount in effect from Sept-Dec for the Ft charge (which is a Fuel surcharge) maybe that also accounts a bit towards the lower bill ????

Standing Charge for a 15/45A is 38.22 if you use 0 Units, then it will be 38.22 + 7% VAT = 40.90 THB bill (No 0 THB bills for a 15/45 or higher meter)
