Sunak won’t be able to hold the Tories together.

 

The economy is already in recession, 8 million people in the UK can’t afford regular meals, the NHS is collapsing ( before winter), mortgage interest rates are climbing, electrical power isn’t guaranteed through the winter, schools are running out of money, GP waiting times are over two weeks, getting an NHS dentist appointment  is near on impossible, industrial action is increasing, leveling up never happened, ‘sunny uplands’ can’t be found.

 

And they s week’s Prime Minister is warning of hard times to come, seemingly unaware that for many millions ‘hard times are already here’.

So now the Conservatives have had multiple female PM's and a PM of colour (is that the right term? - I'm not fluent in Woke). Truly the Progressive party in UK politics.

 

I'm not a huge fan of Sunak's policies, but being pragmatic I can see that he's probably what's needed right now to steady the ship as The Tories stock has fallen recently. Fortunately they have 2 years to get it right before the next GE.

Tough times for many countries, no doubt. Thailand is also suffering. However, given the limited choice available to UK voters, the Tories are undoubtedly the best option to turn things around.

I’m not sure anything this Government has done to the UK can be reasonably described as ‘progressive’.

 

I’m very much in favour of this Government serving its full term, tge Tories need to deal with the mess they have created.

I am sure you are aware the effects of shutting down an economy (due to Covid) for 2 years has on many aspects of said economy. For example, inflation, interest rates etc.

 

You might be aware that many countries are hiking interest rates. The European Central Bank is as well.

Based on the shocking levels of obesity I witnessed first hand during my holiday there a couple of months ago, I don't believe 8 million people are skipping meals. Unless of course, the other 2 meals that day were supersize McDonalds sets.

The hike in UK mortgage interest rates  was a direct result of the idiot Tory mini budget.

 

And here’s a thing, people in the UK witnessed it happening, people in the UK are facing massively increased mortgage payments.

 

Those people aren’t in the least bit concerned about what’s happening elsewhere, their focus is feeding their families, paying their bills and keeping a roof over their heads.

If ignoring these realities provides you with some comfort don’t make the mistake of believing it comforts those facing real hardship.

The Tory membership would have never voted for a non-white PM, so the Tory MPs pushed the problem down the road to the next GE and alienated their entire membership. The same people that voted for Brexit will now be voting against Sanuk in the next general election.

PS. I see the Tory party splitting into two new parties at the next GE, One of the new parties will essentially be white supremacist/anti-immigrant. They might even grab a chunk of the Labour voters. The other party will be the greedy fat cat business party.

I would say that's an underestimate if anything.

The energy increases are going to have a shocking effect on the poor.

This winter there will be a lot of OAPs freezing./starving to death.

But in the context of this discussion, there something worse than ‘understatement’, denial.

 

Nobody who follows the UK news has any excuse for not being aware that millions of people in the UK are unable to afford regular meals, that millions of school children are turning up hungry. It’s wide reported in the press.

 

And yet we have the usual suspects denying this reality, demanding they be shown evidence, which they ignore anyway.

 

It’s a callous denial of the suffering of others that defines the rightwing.

My usual food shopping day is Wednesday. If I did the food poverty survey today, I would indeed be put in the bracket of being in food poverty.

 

The figures really are not a true reflection of reality.

Having been involved in local council, I can assure you 160000 members did not choose our candidate for MP. The system simply does not work like that.
