One of the Justice Department's most experienced national security prosecutors is joining the team investigating the storing of classified documents at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, The Washington Post reports.

National security law experts speaking to The Post say prosecutors "appear to have amassed evidence in the case that would meet some of the criteria for bringing charges against the former president — an unprecedented action that they said likely would only happen if the Justice Department believes it has an extremely strong case."

David Raskin worked on the case of Zacarias Moussaoui, who was tried in Virginia as a co-conspirator in the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed almost 3,000 people. He was also part of the team that prosecuted Ahmed Ghailani in federal court in Manhattan in connection with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa.

Here we go again. Once more the anti Trumpists cling to the hope that one more investigation, one more "top" investigator will find the smoking gun to bring the Donald down.

I'll believe it when he tried and convicted in a court of law and the verdict is upheld on appeal.

This obsession by the anti Trumpists to get him on something, anything is beginning ( if not already ) to look like persecution. That's only going to bolster his support as people can see what is going on, and they don't like it.

So what, the President is well within his right to retain classified docs that he declassified. Biden's declassification scope was much more restricted as VP. It will all come out when congress investigates an maybe both Biden and Trump will be prosecuted, or not. Waste of time.

LOL don't snip my post out of context to hide my other response to your lame attempt at deflection.

A smoking gun would be an additional bonus, but is not even needed. Having a recognized expert in charge of assessing documents, in order to make sure this assessment cannot be contested, is probably enough.

Waste of time.

But do keep in mind Biden corruption is now the focus, and this is not going away. Trump on the other hand will enjoy all the attention on Biden corruption. Trumps walks, and beats the deep state again. Seems so simple for him that the fools running the DOJ would give up. Go chase the DC swamp creatures responsible for all the corruption.

No, the ex-President is not within his rights to keep any official documents.  It's a violation of the 1978 Presidential Records Act.  There's also the matter of no record of these documents being declassified.
