Thaiexaminer.com - "Bangkok EV car self-ignites while charging at 5 am."
Sources: 1) Thaiexaminer.com: https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2025/04/19/bangkok-ev-car-self-ignites-while-charging-at-5-am-owner-is-done-as-insurance-costs-soar-over-premiums/ 2) EVinsider Thailand Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AFdZxLyxX/ Please reply with only facts, with what you can share and not any platitudes or anti EV opinion. EVinsider has more recent pictures with what seems like the fire is also coming from the bottom of the EV. We don't have more facts yet than these sources, but given the black plastic pattern below the headlights, I recognize it as a BYD Seal. For what I have found online sofar, this is the third case of a documented EV fire of a personal vehicle in Thailand. 1) 2024 Porsche Taycan. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2024/05/25/luxury-porsche-ev-car-worth-10-million-self-ignites-and-is-destroyed-in-minutes-in-central-bangkok/ 2) 2023 BYD Atto 3. China warns ,don’t appease trump
"..a farmhand summed up the deteriorating public security condition in rural China: “If you raise pigs, you stand guard at the pigsty every night. If you farm cattle, you stand guard at the cowshed every night…But either way, do not even dare thinking about sleeping at home.” [1] The general trend of the state of public security in China’s countryside over the last decade is one where criminal activities of all kinds are surging steadily.." China’s manufacturing boom, while providing rural laborers with employment opportunities, has unintended, if not entirely negative consequences on security in the countryside. Criminal syndicates, whether local or transplanted from the cities, are gaining greater presence in rural China. While some operate like bandits, moving from one village to another, burglarizing households and terrorizing the local populace, others maintain a more permanent presence. Local groups produce counterfeit goods, operate illegal gun-manufacturing workshops and produce drugs (particularly methamphetamines) as a quick means to escape poverty. https://jamestown.org/program/rural-chinas-public-security-vacuum/ -

BREAKING NEWS Seven Dead as Runaway Bus Slams into Trucks and Bursts into Flames
I am not blaming the road, just highlighting it is an additional factor in this specific case. Why did I leave the rest out, because we are (mostly) all aware of all the other issues that contribute to accidents. There were already a bunch of comments wailing about the same before I joind the party. However, among the contributing factors, road layout is one which is often overlooked. I took a course in Road Traffic Accident Reduction in Emerging Economies with Carnegie Mellon a few years ago. I too was surprised how much road design is a factor. But hey, learning stuff is only for people who don't instinctively know it all already... -
