webfact Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 This week, Thailand will get its moment under the sun when it hosts one of the major diplomatic events of the year — the APEC leaders’ summit — from Monday to Friday. Being held under the theme “Open. Connect. Balance.”, the event takes place at a vulnerable period in global affairs, marked by geo-political conflict and economic challenges. Created in 1989, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation is a regional forum aimed at advancing economic integration on a voluntary basis. This principle is different from other free trade agreements, which require reciprocal cuts in tariff rates. APEC now has 21 economies as members encompassing developed and emerging markets, namely: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United States of America, and Vietnam. https://www.thaipbsworld.com/what-hosting-the-apec-summit-means-to-thailand/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2022-11-15 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. The grouping covers about 2.9 billion, or 38 percent of world population, with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of US$52 trillion in 2020, accounting for 62 percent of world GDP and combined trade accounting for 48 percent of global trade in 2020, according to apec.org.
engamann Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Absulot nothing , outside Thailand and some few of the other countrys nobody have any ide what this APEC is or never herd about it. 1 1
sscc Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 " APEC now has 21 economies as members encompassing developed and emerging markets ......." APEC is important. Unfortunately for Thailand, APEC Bangkok 2022 is the Last of three global events in the same region within One Week. So it is likely to get the much less attention than anticipated. BTW, ASEAN 2022 in Cambodia completed just days ago did well with many non-member guests. Indonesia is now playing host to G20 2022 in Bali.

So Why don't suggest to Biden Administration to cancel hosting "Absulot nothing" APEC 2023 USA ?
samtam Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 What hosting the APEC Summit means to Thailand: Traffic disruptions, traffic jams.
Purdey Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Still don't understand what it means for Thailand in particular. Trade continues. Will any country be able to make a new trade deal that they couldn't through other means? Surprising that China and Taiwan are here together considering their tensions.
poskat Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 to thais, it lets their fantasy that their country matters continue to the rest of the world, they think the meeting is being held in taiwan 1
