Two missiles or rockets are reported to have hit a farm in Poland, near the border with Ukraine. Two people are reported killed.

Polish media showed an image of a deep impact and upturned farm vehicle at the site, near the town of Przewodow.

It's unclear where the projectiles came from.

When you are near a war zone sh-- happens. Whether it was Russia or Ukraine that fired the missiles, lets hope it's not the start of something that can go out of control.

Poland's government is CONSIDERING invoking Article 4 (not 5). Russia denies involvement, stating they have not been operating anywhere near Polish border (despite Lviv being bombarded which is very close). Do you believe Russia? Well... here's the thing. No matter how we wish to simplify this down to the commander in chief knowing what his Lemmings are doing, reality is that Russian army is far from disciplined, not particularly well trained and not very well armed, apart from the centrally controlled precision weapons which were already used up.

 

While it could, of course, be a plot to test how NATO would respond, at least in my opinion it is more likely that this was inexperienced soldiers messing up. There are no Google Maps superimposed borders in real life, and projectiles are also unaware of borders. Those living next to borders with nations in conflict are quite often recipients of unwelcome packages, which mostly isn't intentional.

 

Nonetheless, this is a serious escalation of conflict.

True, but Ukraine is a massive country, and 70km is close. Kinda like Aussies going from Melbourne to Sydney for coffee... (ok, just kidding on that one).

There was Russian-made drone that "landed" in Zagreb, Croatia some 6 months back or so... That's a whole lot more than 70 km.

Sure, the point being 70k in a war zone is no distance whatsoever when you have long range missiles and drones. Incidentally the missile fragments found in Poland match that of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile. This weapon has a CEP (circular error probable) of less than 5 meters, suggesting a deliberate Russian attack.

 

Of course more investigation needs doing.

Biden says it's "unlikely" missile that fell in Poland was fired from Russia

US President Joe Biden said that preliminary information suggests it is unlikely the missile that caused an explosion in Poland on Tuesday and killed two civilians was fired from within Russia.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with other world leaders in Bali, Indonesia, the president was asked if it was too early to say whether the projectile was fired from Russia.

"There is preliminary information that contests that. I don’t want to say that until we completely investigate it," Biden responded.

What rgraham and Denim are not used to is a President who can be forthright and honest and not perpetuate empty rumors. What Biden did is actually very creditable. He didn't falsely ascribe this incident to the Russians. He forthrightly squelched rumors and speculation to the contrary. There's a lesson in this for Putin and his mini-me, Donald Trump. Not one that they're capable of absorbing, though.

As far as I know NATO is a kind of security insurance alliance ruled by the USA, right? So, I suggest that when something happens with a customer (e.g. Poland), a good insurance agency will require investigation to prove that a customer really should be serviced (e.g. p.5 of NATO could be applied).

I suspect he is trying to to stir up the countries who are already helping him. 

Time we left those two countries to get at them themselves.

It was a Russian rocket. That story never changed. Another story that never changed was that nobody of consequence who's not Ukrainian ever said that Russia fired it.

 

Furthermore, it was admitted early on that there were no military targets in the district. Finally, the missile was fired in an attempt to defend against the commission of yet another war crime.
