webfact Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 File photo By Online Reporter Vendors in Hua Hin have been reminded they should not be charging tourists more than 30 baht to rent a chair on Hua Hin beach. Ms. Busaba Choksuchart, Hua Hin’s deputy mayor, recently held a meeting with 22 local vendors following complaints that some tourists had been overcharged after renting beach chairs. Vendors were reminded of the rules in place regarding the maximum 30 baht rental fee for beach chairs. Most of the vendors who attended the meeting admitted to charging tourists more than 30 baht but said this was necessary due to an increase in operating costs. Popular Post soi3eddie Posted November 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2022 Simple fix to avoid confusion and overcharging Ms. deputy mayor. Just place some signs at entrances to the beach with prices for the beach chairs. 13 1 1 1
Popular Post KhunLA Posted November 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2022 Something I'd never do, rent a chair on any beach, to be surrounded by people. Besides ugly as hell, that can't be enjoyable. 5 1

Popular Post Aussieroaming Posted November 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2022 Can't find a scrap of sand to sit on because these tossers claim the area as their own I order to plonk chairs down. After growing up in Australia and hitting beaches all over the continent it is pretty hard to get excited about grubby Thai beaches. 2 2 2

The photo in OP is just one section of the beach at Hua Hin, and about 10%, if that. Cha Am is a different story though, as dominated by them. Locally / PKK / Ao Manao has a section also, but again, maybe 20% of the beach area. Also where all the vendors are. 1

Salaries and wages are considered operating costs. Fuel prices have increased, electricity prices just went up over 20 per cent, food costs more. If they want the same standard of living they will have to charge more. Same everywhere else in the world. 3
swerve Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 A few years back beach chairs on a Phuket beach (Naiharn) went up to 200 baht. That's when I stopped renting chairs. Not sure how much they are charging now.
Popular Post Stargeezr Posted November 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 16, 2022 When I stayed at Hua Hin, I found a beach area with a small local kitchen. I bought a beer and a meals and got the chair and table for free. I seen a few cheap charlies who thought they could sit down and not pay or buy anything. I guess there are people like that every where in the world. 3

Ive been to 100 beaches in Oz. They are better for waves but for sand and swim Ban Krut is as good as any. You can sit and eat in restaurants too. Ao Manao great food, no real waves nice swim.

DDIM Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 We were on HH beach recently. 4 adults. We sat down on beach chairs next to the beach entrance. We were going to buy drinks and would probably have bought 2/3 drinks each during our stay. The restaurant/bar was almost empty (about 6 people in and all further back) and we picked chairs facing directly onto the sea. When the waiter turned up he asked if we were having food or drinks. We told him drinks. He then told us to move as the front row of seats were reserved for patrons who were buying food and we were told to move further in. No one was sitting in the first 7/8 rows and we had a choice of approx 80/100 empty seats. We decided to take our business elsewhere where we would be welcomed. Their loss.
