cecilie Hansen
Hi everyone. I'm looking to go back to Thailand for 3-4 weeks in January, but I'm scared of booking the very expensive tickets, since I’m having problems with immigration every time I enter. Long story short: A couple of years ago I was in Thailand a lot. I did what they described as a visa run (back and forth from Malaysia), and they deported me. At least I think it was a deportation and not a refusal of entry, but I'm actually not sure. I was sent back to Malaysia to get the proper visa. Ever since I’ve had problems entering. I eventually get in, but I’m always in the immigration office for an hour. I have a new passport, but they see it in the system. Last time I only got in, because they saw I was renting a studio from a local. it’s a lot of money to go back, so I want to research if there’s anything to do - I don’t really wanna chance it. I’ve seen there as certain rules for overstay, but can’t find anything for deportation or refusal of entry. Anyone tried this or know what I can do? Thank you
Popular Post FritsSikkink
If they didn't give you a stamp to enter Thailand, you were refused entry. If you are in the country on a visa or visa exempt and they kick you out, you are deported. 1

And if he was deported back to whence he came his passport would have that lovely red stamp indicating such.
richard_smith237
It seems she (Cecile I assume is a females name) was not deported, but refused entry at the Malaysian land border. The main question is.... How long has Cecile been outside of Thailand ?... i.e. a few weeks or a year or more ? I think the best recommendation for Cecile is to get the correct Visa... in this case, if not working etc... that would be a Tourist Visa. I can’t see why she should be rejected if she has not been in Thailand for a year or so - unless of course there is something else not being told.
cecilie Hansen
Hi again Yes I'm a female ???? I was refused at Phuket airport. They took my passport and escorted me to a plane to go back to KL. They said I did a visa-run and told me the two weeks I was in Vietnam previously was also a visa run (it wasn't, meeting a friend from back home). They told me to get the right visa in Malaysia. I got it, but when I got back to Phuket airport, I had to convince them again. Basically, they thought I had too many stamps, but even the immigration in KL was confused, they didn't understand / didn't think I had a lot of stamps. I'll try to find my old passport and see what it says. I remember they gave me a stamp and there was also a piece of paper attached, that I don't longer have. Which I'm affraid means deportation. I'm trying to give all info here, so I can get the best advice - not trying to keep anything untold. I haven't been in Thailand since the end of 2019. I could apply for a visa, but that also looks weird, since I have to be there for less than 30 days. Is there anyway to get insight into what is says in the system? or help? No it doesn't. Visa exempt entry is convenient, but having the correct visa never looks weird to immigration! Small price to pay for peace of mind when you are coughing up for flights and accoms! 3
Popular Post ubonjoe
Have you had a visa (tourist) for entry to Thailand or were you entering visa exempt? If visa exempt I suggest you apply for a tourist visa before entering the country. 4
ChaiyaTH
It's like having a bad credit score, you need to build up your rep again and do what they told you that day; get a visa when coming back.

It would be extremely strange of Immigration to refuse your entry, even with a Visa exempt. As UJ and others mentioned, getting a Tourist Visa makes things a little more ‘proper’ (if that makes sense). Going back it seems that Immigration in Phuket were being total d!cks to refuse your entry, unless you have back to back Visa Exempt entries i.e. (more than 3 in a row over the previous 6 months or something similar) - Immigration have gone through spells of that. Additionally, some Imm-Officers can be downright difficult... (most are not thought). IF you are really concerned, perhaps plan your trip to fly into Suvarnabumi where the officers are more ‘by the book’ and less likely to play the rules by their own bias or judgement.

Won't matter where she enters, she will have this note in the most recent history attached to her name. By getting a proper visa and entering, then building up new recent history, it would stop happening. This is common, also happens after the 1y blacklist overstay which I did on purpose to get a break from TH 5 years ago. After 3-4 visa / extensions never heard of it again. I still use the same passport with the red stamp in it too. Edited November 20, 2022 by ChaiyaTH 1 1
Popular Post Mickeymaus
When I was much younger ????, I couldn't get a Retirement Extension because I wasn't 50 yet. So I did many flights from Thailand to Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines and back to Thailand after a while. One day I got this message stamped next to my Thai visa - see picture ????????????. But in the same year I became 50 ????????????. So you might get problems if you stay here too many days with the wrong visas. In short - when we enter Thailand on a different passport, because our Name and DOB is the same our data still pops up on the Immigration screen. Thus, when entering with a New Passport, all your data is still in the system (going back to 2012)... even when the passport number is different and the nationality is different... the Name and DOB are key identifiers. There may be others who coincidentally have the same name and DOB in the Immigration system, if so, the officer can also cross check the photo. So no... a new passport will not make a difference. CrunchWrapSupreme
OP should apply at the Thai consulate in their home country for the proper 60 day tourist visa sticker, as another poster showed. This requires mailing them your passport, paying the fee, filling out the paperwork, showing bank acct info. This would be the best thing to show up in Thailand with. After this, OP should be looking for shake their "visa run reputation", as someone said like a credit score, by getting some kind of long term visa that's not another tourist visa. They're probably not old enough for retirement. But they do seem to communicate well in English. And they are female. So, what they should do next is then walk into any school up in Issan, the Northeast, and ask to be an English teacher. There is still high demand. Females are preferred to work with the younger children where there is the most demand. And they're preferred over us guys who are generally seen to be in Thailand for the wrong reasons. The school will give her a one year Non-B. Cheers.
