cecilie Hansen Posted November 20, 2022 Author Posted November 20, 2022 Can we please stick to the topic. There is literally no info I'm holding back on. Last trip (one month) was at the end of 2019. The deportation/refusal happend around march 2019 - so the trips that are causing me problems was 2018/2019. There is no question that I should have had the right Visas, but I just don't want it to keep being an issue. I wasn't working illegal, I can work from my computer for companies at home. I didn't say this, so shouldn't be relevant for this topic. What I can gather from the comments is that I should try and apply for a visa at the embassy. Atm I know that you get 45 days on arrival, so I'm not sure they would actually give me one from the embassy, when I don't need it? I considered getting a letter (for visa and to show) from a local confirming I stay there instead of a hotel. My last trip in 2019 they only accepted me, because I could show a conversation with a local that I was renting one of his studios for 29 days ( + had an onward ticket).. The officer changed his opinion when he saw that.

There's nothing in the list of requirements for a Tourist Visa that states that if your intended stay is less than 30 days (45 until March 2023) then you must use the Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme to enter the Kingdom. No reports on here of that ever happening so it's highly unlikely that you'll be refused a TR by your local embassy. 1 hour ago, cecilie Hansen said: I considered getting a letter (for visa and to show) from a local confirming I stay there instead of a hotel. Given your previous hassles with the man this would seem like a very good idea even though it ultimately might not be necessary. Despite the collective experience in here the fact is that none of us can accurately predict what reaction you'll get from the Immigration Officer that you will encounter on your upcoming trip. The only other thing I might add is to consider bringing the cash equivalent of THB 20,000 just in case the IO decides to try and use lack of funds to refuse you entry again. Oh yeah, here's another thing. There is no "proper visa" for digital nomads and there are very limited options for under-50s to stay here long term. You have to take your chances with the game of back-to-back visa exempts and/or tourist visas and of course not make it widely known that you are working from the beach. Good luck! 1

This is nonsense. 95% of tourists with no visas stay in hotels. They rarely ask for a hotel booking but easy with booking.com. The onward ticket is what they may care about. Staying in a unit with a local is no better than a hotel. They dont care anyway.

They will give you one even if you say you want to stay for a day. Why they would deny you a visa?
BritTim Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 The important points: You were not deported. You were denied entry. At that point the airline that brought you to Thailand is responsible for your removal, and returning you to your last embarkation point is normal, as long as you will be allowed to ent6er there. (Deportation is more complicated, and way worse.) One method to avoid trouble is to enter Thailand through most land crossings. For instance, if you fly to Vientiane (unfortunately expensive) there will be no problem entering via the Friendship Bridge to Nong Khai, and from there you can fly from Udon Thani airport pretty much anywhere in Thailand. If you want to enter visa exempt, you would be well advised to use a land crossing. If you have an actual tourist visa, some airports will not hassle you. A good choice is Chiang Mai airport. That airport is also better than Phuket, Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang and probably others for visa exempt entry, though immigration at any airport is legally permitted to deny you a visa exemption, and might do so depending on what your immigration record says about you. Since you will have been away for over three years, it is unlikely immigration will give you a hard time. However, there is one other possibility you should be aware of. When you book a flight to Thailand, the airline communicates with Thai immigration through the Advance Passenger Information System. Using this system, immigration can send a DNB (Do Not Board) instruction to the airline. If the airline receives such an instruction, you will not be allowed to board the aircraft, no reason will be given, and this is basically unappealable. The chances of this are very low in your case. However, the very safest solution (with a visa or not) is to fly to a neighbouring country and enter by land. As stated above, there will be no hassle at most land crossings, and (in the very unlikely event of an issue) at least you can argue your case. Good luck! 1

They took my passport and escorted me to a plane to go back to KL. They said I did a visa-run and told me the two weeks I was in Vietnam previously was also a visa run (it wasn't, meeting a friend from back home). They told me to get the right visa in Malaysia. I got it, but when I got back to Phuket airport, I had to convince them again. Basically, they thought I had too many stamps, but even the immigration in KL was confused, they didn't understand / didn't think I had a lot of stamps. I'll try to find my old passport and see what it says. I remember they gave me a stamp and there was also a piece of paper attached, that I don't longer have. Which I'm affraid means deportation. I'm trying to give all info here, so I can get the best advice - not trying to keep anything untold. I haven't been in Thailand since the end of 2019. I could apply for a visa, but that also looks weird, since I have to be there for less than 30 days. Is there anyway to get insight into what is says in the system? or help? What is today the I AM GOING TOASK ABUT VISAS BUT ARGUE WITH THE EXpERT DAY. Do as most people but expecioally UBONJOE HAS stated. Get thee to the Thai embassy Get thee a touirst visa. Get something in ther that does not look llike a hop ski[p jump bounce back exension game. Clean up your act in your passport. It then stops you have to be worrying if you will be let in or not as you will have a valikd entry permit/visa or if you are not allowed they will tell you and you can stop planning your trip. Why do people play this stupid game of well I am going to fly and I don't now if they will let me in but I am going to pay thousands of dollars fly halfway around the world with a 50 50 chance I will get in. No offence but if I was going to do business with you this would be the deal killer.
