Crime Mystery Body Found Bound and Beaten in Raphiphat Canal, Ayutthaya
Picture courtesy of Amarin. A grisly scene unfolded, as a local resident discovered the body of an unidentified man floating in the Raphiphat Canal in Phachi District, Ayutthaya. Authorities are treating the incident as murder, citing signs of physical assault and restraint. Police Lieutenant Colonel Thawatchai Chanrueang of Phachi Police Station was alerted to the discovery and immediately coordinated with rescue workers from Ruamjai Ayutthaya Foundation, forensic specialists and medical staff from Phachi Hospital. The body was found near Moo 7, Nong Nam Sai subdistrict, partially submerged along the canal bank. Initial examination revealed the deceased to be a man aged between 40 and 50, of dark complexion, wearing only black sports trousers. He was shirtless and found lying face up. A piece of floral-patterned purple and white cloth was tightly wrapped around his upper body from the chest to the neck, with clear bruising on the neck and signs of facial trauma, the man’s face appeared severely caved in, consistent with blunt force injuries. No identification documents were found on the body and police believe the man had been dead for one to two days. Rescue personnel reported that the body was first spotted floating in the canal near the Nong Kruai Bridge in the same subdistrict. The strong current carried the body roughly two kilometres downstream before it was successfully brought to shore. Due to the unnatural condition of the corpse, authorities were immediately alerted. Investigators from Phachi Police Station have recorded photographic evidence of the scene and condition of the body. The remains will be transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Police are working with nearby stations to search for missing persons reports and have called on the public to come forward if they know of any missing individuals matching the description. Families with missing loved ones are urged to contact Phachi Police Station. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is now underway.
