A clip was posted on the page of Ban Thatu Mahanakhon 2019 after the incident on Tuesday night in Ban Thatu, Phen, Udon Thani. Daily News reporters met Nitaya, 50, and the phu yai ban Sarawuth, 46, at the house in question. Nitaya was out with her daughter having dinner and when they came back they thought some underwear had blown away. They got a shock when they looked at the CCTV and saw a man aged 30-35 steal about 20 items and select several others for his perusal. Picture: Daily News It was worth 3,000 to 4,000 baht and the clothing belonged to another person's daughter who was away working in England. The phu yai ban initiated a loudspeaker alert for women to not hang their washing out at night. The thief gained access from a neighboring plot vaulting a wall in bare feet. This was facilitated by earth having been put up close to a wall during land levelling. Sarawuth said that the thief was known to him after several such incidents. He has mental problems and lives in another area but returns by bicycle from time to time. Picture: Daily News Other victims were reluctant to file police reports. The Phen police have been informed of this theft. Nitaya said it may be a small matter but it could escalate and be a bigger problem for ladies in the area. Often sex offenders start off with "weird" behaviour before it escalates. The sooner he is caught the better. I'll add that many women in the west feel psychologically violated when burglars go through their closets rummaging through their underwear or stealing it.
