Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is reportedly preparing to visit Washington on Wednesday, in his first known trip outside the country since Russia's invasion began in February.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is planning to visit Washington on Wednesday and may meet US President Joe Biden, reports say.

It would be his first foreign trip since the Russian invasion in February.

Mr Zelensky could also address Congress, unnamed officials told US media. There is no official confirmation of the visit or the plans.

A UN vote had 141 nations voting to condemn Russian invasion and demanded an immediate withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine. ,  5 were against the resolution. There were 35 abstentions and 12 absences.

Just like who ever blow up the pipeline - That surely was an act of international terrorism? Unless of course it was the Ukrainians (unlikely by themselves) as they are the only ones who at war with the Russians

Russia most likely sobotaged it just as they falsely claimed they had to shut down Nordstream 1 for repairs.

Not really in one sense it’s a bargain Russia is humiliated and worn down without costing American lives we (and nato)are helping an underdog stand up to a tyrant and murdering war criminal supporting democracy and freedom we are helping Americans feel proud to be American again for the right reasons again so no sir if it costs a bit to support a heroic nation stand up to the invader so be it

I don't envy the man in a green t-shirt. On the one side he's got the Banderite nationalists who want to eradicate the Russians in the east of the country together with the oligarchs and arms merchants who can't get enough of American "aid". This war has been Christmas from Feb. for them.

 

And on the other he's got millions of ordinary Ukrainians who voted for him, who are shivering in cold apartments without heat or power who desperately want for this ordeal to end. They want him to pick up the phone and call Putin and say, ok, ok, we'll do the Minsk deal like we said we would before we didn't

 

Easy call for our man or maybe not.

That's not much unusual for a candidate on a high post to promise anything to the voting population what they are longing to get.  Especially when he is promising to change something very substantial. The situation usually gets changed very fast once the politician is elected.

 

The Minsk treaties had been painstakingly organized to calm down all sides and to stop the atrocities in the east of the country.  What was the real purpose of the agreements for some has not been any secrecy as known from Petro Poroschenko long time ago, recently confirmed by Angela Merkel.

How many times does it have to be pointed out to you that the Russians said the Minsk agreements didn't apply to them since they had no armed forces in Ukraine? How many times does it have to be pointed out to you that the Inspectors found more violations of the Minsk agreement from the Russian supported forces than from the Ukrainians? That included the pro russian forces detaining inspectors by force.
