I notice this more & more online where people respond to news articles without actually reading anything from the source spewing nonsense.

Yes, I've noticed that also, seems like people just give an article seconds then move on to the next.

Pattaya authorities have decided to cancel the New Year Countdown firework display from December 29th to 31st 2022.

There's an overview of "eveything's fine in Thailand" yet big celebrations are being canceled?

The truth about things is being hidden again.

My thoughts exactly.  Makes absolutely no sense to allow some NYE events and not others and very irresponsible to cancel so close to the event with many people having planned trips to Pattaya and booked hotel rooms.

In Thailand matters pertaining to the monarchy tend to be considered more important than those pertaining to tourism.

Indeed.  Although when it comes to matters like this, the law makes it very difficult to state the truth!

The Bangkok Post explained the cancellation  because the Thai people were in "fragile state".  Someone high up the political chain trying to get favor from higher up with the cancellation.

Include Khao San Road and great news for tourists who came here for New Year...

Walking Street, a beach stroll road to be molested by Lb's or just go to a bar which will close early...

Thailand a top destination?

A thousand other better places to spend New Year without any closures.
