Reptile (2023) - IMDb

Last night I downloaded and watched "Reptile" and thought it was good, although I did not recognise Alysia Silverstone who seems to have packed on a few pounds these past few years. But then again so had Benicio del Toro, but still good to watch.

 

There were quite a few "red herrings" in the movie, but it did prove suspenseful at times and as it unravelled, so did the surprises.

 

Well worth a watch IMO and thanks to LosLobo for recommending it.

I was a little disappointed, maybe expected too much.  After the one scene, the rest was a bit predictable, and done so many times.

 

I enjoyed '57 Seconds' more, as much faster pace to it, and a different spin, again, on something that's been done, more than a few times.

I tried watching Mission Impossible on Sunday night, it's not a great encode, it's only 3GB for a 1080 file, no Thai subs yet. I gave it up, and wait for an upgrade.

I found MI watchable on my 64in OLED UHD and it seemed like a 720p but I thought the hardcoded Mandarin subs would be more of an issue for some.

 

Nevertheless, I did post a disclaimer about the quality.

 

NB Perhaps I need to visit SpecSavers.

MI quality was ok, on my 65", and wish I could say the same about the movie.  First hour was a total waste, some vain attempt to be a comedy, along with a silly car chase scene.  Second half a bit better. 

 

I can understand why Cruise said this & next will be his last MI ... as they are going downhill fast.  Maybe he'll make part 2 interesting, with everyone getting bumped off.

 

Enjoyed the E3 more, though slow paced.  OK time killer, though I've given up expecting any thing new, exciting, thought provoking from any movie makers.

No need to be sorry, the lack of Thai subs and a whining noise about the Chinese HC subs in my right ear was the deciding factor.

Obituary. Really enjoying this 6 part Irish mini series. Probably described as a black comedy. Gets an 8.1 on IMDB, but only one review. Available on TG.

I've just finished watching another recommendation from @Will27, which was Headhunters (Hodejegerne) season 1 and it was good IMHO. I got it from 1337x.

Enjoying this, good to see a dramatisation rather than a documentary, some well known faces in this.

 

But, I am a biased as i lived 5 miles from Sutcliffe and was interviewed as I worked at one of the 5 companies who had been issued with the infamous fiver !

 

This looks good.

when prozzies cost 5 quid, the long shadow drama about the Yorkshire ripper. Did not think it would be interesting having seen documentaries on it before but very well done, reeks of the 70's and concentrated on the victims and gormless cops.

Starts slow but sucks you in. Best thing I've seen for a while.

If you like horror movies (I usually avoid), then 'Talk to Me' was decent, and different.  Especially considering all were unknowns to me.  Stay till the very last scene, as I almost didn't, thinking it was done.

I liked "Talk to Me" but wish I could see it with subtitles, I had a lot of difficulty understanding much of what was said. 

 

Also recently saw:

"Immersion", which was a little different and pretty good. 

"Saw X", which was pretty much what you would expect.

"Quicksand", which was ridiculous.

"The Exorcist: Believer", which was disappointing. 

 

Fo anyone that does not know, both SF and Major have promotions whereby you can watch all the movies you like for a monthly flat rate.

Yes you missed a bit, as a lot of the 'family' tension, revolved around sister not wanting brother to participate.  And the father's last scene (attempting to help daughter on floor) would have had a bit more content to it.

 

You would think you wouldn't need subtitles for horror or action movie, this one may have been the exception.

There's a 'Talk 2 Me' (2022 ?) in the works, and hopefully will pick up right where 1 left off.  No real info on IMDB about it.  Same directors & writers (-1), but no cast or other info.
