Anti-Cannabis Law Draft: Political Compromise, Not Moral Outrage
As I have said before, the bottom line to all this is to wait and see. There are still so many hoops to jump through that it is ridiculous. This may pass in the next 3 years, but I can see it still being a topic for the next election. -

Trump vows to blame the Jews if he loses at events meant to combat antisemitism
Just a reminder that holding a modern western liberal ideology is incompatible with Thailand and SEA in general. Hopefully you and your ilk will relocate back to metropolitan Western areas that not only are more compatible with, but also areas that you wanted to help form and create in their current form. -

Pedestrian Struck on Crossing by Motorbike: Suffers Broken Ribs and Ruptured Spleen
Non-light controlled crossings are poorly defined here. Road markings rarely include zig zag markings to denote no stopping either side and no overtaking on the approach side, or have spotlights to illuminate pedestrians who are crossing, and make up for the poor street lighting in most urban areas. They also have no Belisha beacons, the oversized flashing orange globes that give drivers warning they are approaching a crossing. Along with proper enforcement (a dream I know), and driver and pedestrian education, these economical measures would greatly increase pedestrian safety. But because most of the victims are poor, this does not seem a priority for the Government. -

Hose Saves Three Schoolgirls Trapped by River Currents: Ranong
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. At approximately 16:00 on September 22, rescue teams were dispatched to the popular tourist site of Raksawarin Park, near the hot springs in Ranong Province, following reports of three schoolgirls trapped by strong currents in the Had Som Paen canal. Upon arrival, rescuers found two 13-year-old girls clinging to a rock in the middle of the fast-flowing canal. A third girl had been swept away but managed to swim back to safety. Local citizens quickly jumped into action, leaping into the water to assist the stranded girls. In a remarkable act of teamwork, bystanders threw a hose to the girls, which were about 20 metres from the riverbank. A rescuer was able to swim to the two girls and the hose was secured around them, allowing rescuers to pull them back to shore one at a time. One of the rescued girls recounted the frightening experience, explaining that they had gone to the riverbank to play in the water when the current swept them away. While she managed to swim back to safety, her two friends became stuck on the rock. Fortunately, they received help from passersby, although one girl suffered minor injuries after being knocked against the rocks by the rushing water. Authorities praised the quick response of the community, which undoubtedly prevented a more serious outcome for the young girls. -- 2024-09-23 -
