Hanoi, HCMC gateways jammed as people return home for Tet

Traffic was chaotic in Hanoi and Saigon Friday, the final working day of lunar year 2022, as millions began the exodus home for Tet, Vietnam’s biggest festival.

 

From 3 p.m. Thursday, traffic came to a virtual standstill at Hanoi’s western gateway.

 

At Mai Linh Bridge in Ha Dong District, vehicles backed up for more than a kilometer in either direction.
