COVID vaccination centres to be set up in all provinces for foreign tourists

At least one COVID-19 vaccination centre will be set up in every province in Thailand, to provide services at a cost, exclusively for foreign tourists on voluntary basis. This will not affect the vaccine supplies reserved for Thai citizens, according to Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong.

 

He said that foreign long-term stayers, members of the diplomatic corps and their families are eligible for free vaccination.

 

Vaccination services for foreign tourists were launched on January 18th at the Bang Rak medical centre and at the Institutes for Urban Disease Control and Prevention in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri and Songkhla provinces.

Oh, dirty foreigners need the shot to keep from spreading Covid.

Oh wait a minute!  The shots don't stop you from getting Covid, or transmitting Covid. 
"Wait wait wait wait!!!  You won't die!"  Unless you do.

The vaccination fees are 800 baht for one dose of AstraZeneca vaccine and 1,000 baht for a Pfizer dose, plus a 380 baht service fee.

Are they still making the original Pfizer vaccine?  If not when does this stuff expire.

 

I'm waiting for the newer multi strain shot.

People can get the vaccines in their own countries if they choose to.

 

Who goes on a vacation to a 3rd world/developing nation and puts in their itinerary that they will get vaccinated while there ?

I guess there is a need to show the Global population that Thailand is trying to do something about its Covid situation.

It was reported in a Newspaper out of BKK, that in the first 2 weeks of 2023, only a very few visiting Tourists were tested Covid positive.

However, those that had to report their status to their returning Countries upon departure from the Country were a whopping 300-400 after testing.

Go figure !

My thought was for the Chinese, coming in increasing numbers and having only the less efficient Chinese vaccine shots. As short term, they would pay for their shots, if I understand the wording.

I don’t see what the big deal is. If a tourist wants to purchase a Covid vaccine here.  It’s their money and their choice.

The effectiveness of the COVID vaccine doses wane (lessen) after several months post-injection, especially against merely being infected, although the protection against severe disease and death is more long lasting.

 

There's really no such thing as "fully vaccinated" any more... although that was a term used in the early going.

 

Not to mention, you were "fully vaccinated" with the original version of the COVID vaccines that weren't designed to fully counter the currently circulating, newly emerged COVID virus variants like BA5 and XBB, because those didn't exist back then at the outset of the pandemic.
