Flying to Bangkok 45 Day Waiver

Featured Replies

Plan is to fly to Bangkok with no visa and get a 45 day waiver on arrival and then apply for retirement visa 1 week later. Just looked at booking a one way flight with Thai Airways, on the website it says - Passengers with a one way ticket maybe refused entry at destination. Will this be a problem, if so whats the best solution to this problem.

Buy rent a flight from companies such as "onwardflight.com"

BTW: For your planned non O retirement do you already have a Thai bank account in your name only.

I booked a cheap flexible flight to Laos, which I will use at some point anyway. No one asked for it on departure from the UK or on arrival in Bangkok.

DrJack, Thanks for the info. I am using a visa agent to get the retirement visa and they are going to arrange the bank account for me.

Thanks for the info. Who did you book the flexible flight with?

In practice, you are extremely unlikely to have a problem on arrival in Bangkok if you have no onward flight reservation. However, many airlines will refuse to allow you to check in without one. You can buy a cheap throwaway ticket from Bangkok to any destination, or look at flight ticket rental websites that allow you to have a valid booking for a short while to (historically) circumvent required flight reservations by airlines, embassies etc.

Another option for the onward flight problem is to attend airline desk for boarding pass and if questioned or refused b.pass.

Just step away from counter and book cheapest throw away thicket.

Obviously you would need internet.

Throw away cheapest approx 1500b and "rent a ticket" approx $15usd.

Sometimes the supervisor allows you to sign a waiver.

AirAsia. Flights to Vietnam are cheaper than Laos.
