Fruit prices

Featured Replies

Fruit prices in Ratanakorn have increased between 25% to 75% in the last couple weeks, is that in other places too? or the price cartel in action?

not to that degree.

Here's MY beef.      the DISCOUNTED fruit that is rotten.   I've fallen for that trick a few times a year.

Definitely there is a defined season for fruit when it's cheap, then one day it's not.

to answer your question...................maybe I've noticed 10% rise, if that.

Chinese New Year has passed I would think most will be coming down soon. Pretty much a yearly occurance.

Not so much up in general but way bigger differences!

Jomtien Night Market; small bananas 50-55 B

Same at Rompho 20-25 B.

I get the best deals direct of farmers on 3 wheelers cruising on Jomtien beach. However, they only sell bulk.

Son-i-l came visiting.  He is a fruit nut-case.  He couldn't believe the astronomical prices asked here in comparison to the 'expensive' UK.

I just try to be careful, they do gouge prices all over this place.

Soooo, at Ratanankorn 'll get an apple or 2 for 18 baht each. Maybe some of those small oranges for 20 baht per kg. Other than that I go to Makro and get 1kg frozen berries for 75 Baht. If I'm at a 7-11 I'll get a banana for 8 Baht. 150 Baht a week on fruit, not too shabby imho.
