Phuket’s total tourist arrivals are still below 50% of average pre-pandemic levels.

The pandemic is not over yet so what's the problem?

Flights are double or triple what they were from a lot of places, give it a year or two.

Also Tourism was on the way down in the years prior to 2020 so why would anyone expect that trend to change during a pandemic?

Whilst Phuket’s tourism tzars are delighted with the surge of arrivals into Phuket in recent months, the statistics reveal some crucial warnings for Phuket’s immediate tourism future. And, despite all the back-patting from the local Tourism of Thailand office, Phuket’s total tourist arrivals are still below 50% of average pre-pandemic levels.

I'm sure TAT will come up with the the other 50% this year.

Plus 20% for good measure.

A lot of long stay (3 to 6 months) Russians in Koh Chang, hotels are full. Last week I was at the Coconut Beach resort for 5 days and the hotel staff were after Russians taking food out of the Breakfast buffet to eat later-LOL. Wonder if this will be a long stay problem. Curious to know if Thailand is getting Russian vet's here on R&R like during the Vietnam conflict with the Americans?
