Driver faces charges after leaving motorcyclist for dead in central Vietnam

A woman is under house arrest after she abandoned a man who hit her car and fell, leaving him alone on the road and in the path of a truck that crushed him to death.

Nguyen Thi Hang, 31, a citizen of Yen Thanh District of Nghe An Province, is facing the charge of "not helping someone in a life-threatening situation" under the Penal Code, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Police said at around 10 p.m. on October 2 last year, Hang stopped her five-seat car on National Highway 1A in Can Loc District of Ha Tinh Province, which neighbors Nghe An, and left the car to do some personal business. There were two others with her in the car.
