Phuket – Two people on a bus in Phuket have sustained injuries after a gunman opened fire while other passengers ran away.

 

The Phuket City Police were notified of the incident at 7:00 A.M. this morning (February 10th) about a bus which was traveling on the Thep Krasattri Road in Rassada in Kwuan Din Dang.

 

Police arrived at the scene and closed the road for both lanes for a one kilometer radius as a safety precaution.

Two Injured As Gunman Opens Fire On Phuket-Phatthalung Minibus

A GUNMAN opened fire on a minibus running from Phuket to Phatthalung early this morning (Feb. 10) injuring two persons and is still holed up in the empty vehicle after everyone fled, Matichon newspaper said.

 

At 6.49 a.m. a call was made to 191, the police emergency centre, informing them that a shooting had occurred on the minibus as it was passing through Koh Kaew subdistrict, Mueang district.

 

Investigation shows that the shooting had occurred just a kilometre after the vehicle pulled out of Phuket Bus Terminal with 10 passengers on board. All of a sudden the unidentified 30-year-old gunman had fired at a man and a woman.

UPDATE: Negotiations fail and police storm bus, shooter found dead

UPDATE: 11.35am – The shooter, who was still on the bus, has apparently shot himself.

 

According to Phuket Hotness, relatives failed to negotiate a peaceful outcome. Police then tried using tear gas and moved onto the bus. The perpetrator was found dead behind a seat in the bus.

 

UPDATE: 11.15am – Officials are still negotiating with the alleged shooter who remains on the bus. Traffic remains blocked along Thepkasattri Road in the immediate area, in both directions.

ORIGINAL STORY: Police in Phuket have closed the northbound lanes of Thepkrasattri Road near the Wat Sapum Thammaram, between Phuket Town and Koh Kaew, following a shooting incident on an interprovincial bus that was travelling to the southern province of Phattalung. The bus, carrying 9 passengers, departed from the Ratsada bus terminal at 7am this morning, about 2 kilometres away from the scene of the incident as the bus was travelling north along Thepkasattri Road.

According to a report by Phuket News, the shooter fired two shots, hitting a man and a woman on the bus. The victims have been rushed to Mission Hospital for medical treatment.

According to the 39 year old bus driver Somyot Buakaew, the bus was approaching the downward section of the Khuan Din Daeng Hill when he heard a gunshot inside the vehicle. A female passenger ran to the front of the bus, calling for help, and the driver then heard a second shot.

 

In response, Somyot immediately pulled over the bus to allow passengers to evacuate.

It’s understood the shooter is still on the bus, which has been surrounded by police officers who have sealed off the area.

 

The situation is ongoing and authorities are continuing to respond. This is a developing story and we will keep you updated as it unfolds.

Standoff in Phuket after gunman shoots two passengers on mini bus

Two people were shot by a fellow passenger on a Phuket-Phatthalung mini bus, as it was travelling through Mueang district of Phuket on Friday morning.

 

The shooting, which took place at about 6.50am on the outbound Thepkasattri Road, prompted 30 police officers to respond to incident. They closed off the outbound lane.

 

According to the bus driver, who managed to escape, along with eight other passengers, there were nine passengers on board when the bus left the Transport Company’s bus terminal for Phatthalung at about 6.40am.

As one does. Perfectly normal behaviour. Maybe they got on the bus ahead of him and he shot them as he'd lost face. People here have been shot for less.

Another angry little Thai boy with a gun and a tantrum??

Should have just taken himself out as opposed to shooting innocent victims, this is what I call a gutless animal who is utterly selfish, can't say I'm not disappointed at the ending. 

 

Those people shot and others on the bus will be traumatised for decades to come because of his actions.
