Kap Chung Immigration

Recommended Posts

I m working in surin.Today i called kap chung immigration to inquire to know if i could extend my visa in kap chung instead of going to bkk and also to get a re entry permit. The Lady who picked up the call told me that the kap chung office doesn't issue re entry permits.as the officer there is new and got no experience.and when i asked about my yearly extension to be done in kap chung, she gave the same answer, and insisited me to go to Phiboon immigration office( ubon ratchthani),or Bangkok.

any recent experiences there are welcome !

You are expecting a lot :o ( joke ). Why on earth wouldn't the Department employ a competent officer versed in the simplest of processes.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have just moved to Surin from Hua Hin where I used the Immigration Offices at Samut Sakhon, 150 kilomters to the north. I am halfway through my 12-month retirement visa, second year of issue.

I was in despute with the Immigration Services at Samut Sakhon over the 90-day reporting requirement. Stupidy, I thought the 90-day period started at the time the second 12-month visa was issued and filed my 90-day report accordingly. Not so, they said that it ran from the date I first entered the country one and a half years earlier. A completely separate and different cyle to the visa renewal. I visited the immigration office in April and tried to pay the 2,000 baht fine - the immigration officer would not accept the money and said, "Mai pen rai". I filed the second 90-day report in June only to receive a phone call (now in Surin) saying that I would have to pay a 2,000 baht fine. Now becoming very frustrated! What can I do?

I paid a visit to the immigration office in Kap Cheoun 16 July 04. My wife did all the talking and I only said the customary " Sawadeee krap" or "Kop kun krap", as many times as necessary. I kept a big smile on my face as my wife told my story to the official. 10 minutes later I had the tear-off portion of the TM47, dated 26th June 2004, the date I filed my last report and no 2,000 baht fine. I was told that the other office at Samut Sakhon had beeen in error and that the 90-day reporting period starts from the date of issue of the visa.

Conflicting stories but that was the way it was or is. The only thing you should remember for the future reporting requirements is to look for the date on the TM 47 tear-off portion that tells you when the next report is due. Usually entered in Thai in the bottom left-hand corner.

Finally, I did enquire about renewing my 12-month retirement visa at the end of December 2004. They said no problems - just come along with the appropriate paperwork and a new visa will be issued. All-in-all a very successful visit to the Immigration Office at Kap Cheoun. Very helpful and friendly staff, only two of them, and the office is only 60 or 70 kilometers away from Surin too!

Isn't it great, the immigration officer him/herself doesn't even know the rules.

The Thai Immogration official who is always lurking about before you go to the window exit Thailand in Kap Choeng told me that his office oppisite the supermarket (wherever that is?) told me that when it was time for me to renew my non imm O visa he will gladly process for me. He certainly knows the rules as to the 400k required, upon asking him further regarding proof of funds from overseas he smiled :o and said just my bank statement is suffice Bingo :D

There you go. It show it pays to make friends with these people and you will get service.

For the original poster, you could just write to Suan Plu and ask them where you should renew your visa. If they say Kap Chung, just take the letter in there and tell them their boss in Bangkok says they can do the job!!

You can get re-entry permits at Don Muang Airport.

I have never used the service, but there is a clear sign to the counter in Terminal 1, near the first check in for Thai Inter.

True. But only after you have checked in for your flight and have a boarding pass from my understanding. For me that last thing I want to worry about then is running to another terminal/finding immigration officer/getting permit/running back to clear immigration lines and then getting to aircraft.

It would always be the time I am in traffic jam getting to airport and 30th in line at check-in with all those in front overweight/without visa/lost ticket. :o

:o

I was at K.B in june and spoke to the staff, the girls working there has only been there for 3-4 months and know nothing about immigrationlaw.

The officer i spoke to does know his work, and you should not call them except to check when they are open due to the thai way af not wanting give away (secrets) over the phone, they always want to speak face to face.

Good luck from sweden :D
