A protest by local fishermen on Wednesday has resulted in the blockade of Pak Bara Pier on Koh Lipe, causing a loss of 10 million baht per day in tourism revenue for Satun province, according to Samart Jaroenrit, president of the Tourist Business Association of Satun.

AFTER two suspects arrested in Suphanburi said the large number of live monitor lizards and carcasses found at their slaughterhouse were to be sent for consumption along Thai-Cambodian border at Trat, vendors at a large border market denied both Thais and Cambodians living in their area consumed such meat, Thai Rath newspaper and Sanook.com said.

Thailand finds itself still impacted by a global economic downturn which has left it too dependent on a rapid foreign tourism rebound assisted by China’s reopening this year.
