Thai soldiers given strict safety orders following more fatal attacks in South

Army personnel working in the southern province of Narathiwat have been told not to enter locations until they’ve been confirmed as safe, following a fatal attack on Friday. Two members of a bomb disposal squad were killed when the convoy they were travelling in was attacked by a southern insurgent IED.

 

The device exploded as the convoy drove over it on Baan Irkasae Road in the district of Si Sakhon at around 3pm.

 

According to a Nation Thailand report, Chalermporn Khamkeaw, commander of the Narathiwat task force, has confirmed that the order was issued by the deputy commander of Army Region 4 and is designed to keep soldiers and volunteers safe. He says insurgency attacks weaken soldiers’ morale.

 

“Officials have been instructed to ensure that the scene they enter is 100% safe.”

 

After Friday’s attack, a second attack was carried out at around 8pm the following day, with suspected insurgents throwing a pipe bomb at Army personnel near a base in the district of Rueso. Nobody was injured in the incident.

true... let us hope that the Thai soldiers never have to fight a real war against an invading army of aggression. Maybe Thailand needs to employ a mercenary army to do the dirty work for them.

Right, ignoring the problem or at best trying to contain it has just emboldened the jihadists. China has the right Idea with how to handle Islamic separatists, crack down hard. Close the brainwashing schools and arrest any imam preaching violent insurrection while offering huge rewards for information on the terrorists.

Jeez, do you guys actually read the things you post before you post them? Or is it just your knee-jerk reaction to anything having to do with Islam?
Kill them all, of course. That includes killing millions of innocent and well-meaning people, including children, who just want to have a normal life and mean no one any harm. Or did you mean just kill all the insurgents? In that case, how do you distinguish between a ‘normal’ citizen and an insurgent? Must be nice to live in a black and white world without anything in between.

And China has the right idea with how to handle Islamic separatists, seriously? Just rob a couple of million people of their freedom and put them in ‘re-education camps’ because they oppose the Chinese wanting to stamp out every last bit of their culture? Like they have been doing, and are currently still doing, in Tibet?

If this 'religion of peace' rule in this world, they will also kill all people of other religions.  look at the taliban.  they even killed fellow Muslims.  you dodge that the taliban is not real islam?  in fact they use the quran as their life guide.  you must understand between killer because of personal intentions and killer because of religion orders. come to my country where mosques deliberately blow their loud speakers as loud as they want and if you complain you will be jailed for many years.  and with the excuse that they are the religion of the majority, they suppress minorities.  see thousands of churches burned down without any significant action from the government and you will understand that they are a problem for humanity.  You think if they were in power, they not to kill children and other innocent people.  or maybe you are muslim?  LOL

Not really important what you call it, some words are used to make it sound like the slaughter is somehow more justified, it's not. Those terrorists involved are muslims, nobody else. All you need to understand the southern 'insurgency' is the history, motivation and tactics of islam.

If a Muslim kills anyone it's always jihad, right? ???? 

What you need to do is study the history of the conflict, going back all the way until at least 1909. You would see that Islam is only part of the Malay struggle for self-determination. That's not exactly what trans-national jihadis are going for, innit?

Maybe you should read up on the history of this region, and who it actually "belonged" to before being forcefully "annexed" ......and what their traditional religion and language was/is. Malay.

I believe that they have no ambition beyond (re~establishing ) their independent state

So we have a history buff here, ok so far in History you want to go?? Before they were non muslims and were Buddhists and Hindus before that? Bahasa Melayu which your converted muslims speak is originated from Sanskrit as well as Thai language which derived from Pali and Sanskrit. So before muslims invaded and converted those Hindus/Buddists to Muslims, this all was Buddhist/Hindus land. So when a terrorist invade your country , you dont hand it over. They can go across the border and live with their Bumiputra brothers, ironically a sanskrit word for son of the land. The religion of peace only know conversion, kill or terrorize and there is only one way to deal with terrorists.

You need to go back to studying the history of Islam in the Malay Peninsular. Islam did not become the majority religion through invasion and conquest rather, as with Christianity in Europe, it was through conversion. In the case of the Kingdom of Pattani the conversion of Raja Intera around 1470 precipitated the conversion of most of his subjects.

 

Islam became the dominate religion in the region in the same way Hinduism and Buddhism superseded older animist beliefs, via trade and cultural exchange. Precisely the reason why old Sanskrit words like Bumiputra persist in the Malayu language. Demonstrating it was a gradual  process of assimilation rather than sudden conquest.
