Areas of three national parks in Kanchanaburi in the west of Thailand were declared off limits due to the risk of fire.

They are the Sai Yok, Khao Laem and Lam Klong Ngu parks.

Helicopters did 38 sorties carrying 19,000 liters of water to douse flames, reported Thai Rath.

People rearing buffaloes in particular were ordered to stay away from affected areas.

Acting parks chief Attaphon Charoenchansa was on the scene surveying the danger.

Some 40 staff would be mobilized today to continue the fight against the fires.

And they started how exactly?

Land clearance by any chance?

Always, possible, but it does say the fires are in the National park.

So are the locals and their livestock, on the occasion when they accidentally stray.
