It's a big deal because you already paid 2m baht.

The money (1900 baht) is somewhat insignificant....  IMO the issues are the shortsightedness of having a ‘life time’ visa that needs extension every 90 days... (I addressed that point earlier and suspect this is a result of initial negotiations with decision makers who were slow to ‘move’ on offering a long term visa).....   The other issue being the irritation of having to waste time with the renewal itself which is a completely unnecessary exercise for someone who has been approved ‘visa’s for life’... (or 20 years).
